I have a friend that put a deposit on an 07 coupe yesterday.
Are there any specific questions that he should ask or things he should know before the deal is inked?
I hope he has a killer deal on the 07 with EXACTLY the options he wants. If not, I have no doubt he will eventually ask himself, "why didn't I get the 08, what was I thinking."
I have an 07 and love it, but when I purchased it, I did not have any idea of the LS3, and all the other improvements on the 08. I will not sell my 07 and upgrade to an 08, that would cost me thousands (just in taxes alone) but if I were in your friends shoes......
If it has what he is looking for regarding options go for it. Unless you have a GMID certificate or employee discount its hard to get that much off an 08 right now. I bought an 07 2 weeks ago because the price was right and the Blue I wanted was discontinued. Good luck to your friend and hopefully things work out. Dont jump on all the 08 hype as folks will say the same when 09, 10 and future models come out. If he likes it buy it.
shop around and you can get pretty close to that on an 08. close enough to make it worth it...or wait a few months till the intial upgraders willing to pay more die down. then it will be back to current 07 discounts on the 08s. just my opinion. but, then again, my 07 I got in late Feb still rocks.
"Nitrofill" is the process of putting nitrogen in the tires rather than standard air. Some people claim it has advantages (not bleeding out like air does, doesn't expand like air when hot, no moisture, etc.). It is certainly a nice thing to have, but refilling the tires is a huge pain - not many places have nitrogen. And, you cannot mix nitrogen and air and keep all the nitrogen benefits. Unless you live in a metro area with this sort of thing widely available, I don't recommend it.
There are lots of things that need to be thought about when taking delivery of a C6. Don't buy into the whole, "I should have waited for an 08" thing - The C7 will be out in a couple of years, and that will be the next "greatest of all time." Enjoy the 2007.

There is a great FAQ STICKY in this C6 Corvette General Discussion forum that new owners or about-to-be-purchasers should study.
The benefits of nitrogen tire filling are that it is DRY and that if the tires get really hot (as in racing) the 21% oxygen in regular air is not there to begin degrading the rubber compounds in the tire. But wait, the air around the tire on the outside still has 21% oxygen in it. And it is closer to the tread rubber than the air or nitrogen on the inside !!! What to do ? ? ?
He was told that the car comes with the painted top, not the transparantone, he'd have to purchase that separately. Is that generally the case? I know that my C5 came with both, but I am the second owner.

Have fun!
i've had my Infinti FX35 tires filled with nitrogen for the last 10 months and have not seen any pressure loss. If you need air and can't find a dealer with nitorgen fill you can put air in and when you get back home your dealer will change the air to nitrogen for free. Check out www.whynitrofill.com/ for more info. I plan to put the nitrogen in my C6 when it comes in.
a bit more info - painted top standard, transparent top instead of painted top extra ($750?), transparent top + painted top extra extra ($1400?). If ordered new, all three options were possible.
If it comes with the painted top already, he'll probably only get to add a transparent top to it. Check with one of the forum vendors for the best price, so he doesn't get charged a lot extra if he's buying it from the dealer.
