Default trying to decide.

ok. i am all about performance. the lighter the car the better.
i want to get an 08. i am not going to mod it to wear i can't put it back to stock. so my only mods will be air filter, programmer and exhaust. i prolly won't do any of these as i am a firm believer in the c6's powerful performance #'s. even the 05-07 models are freakin rocket ships. i mean how fast can u go on the street, and for how long. i just like knowing its there.

ok. enough bout that. my ? is. what is the standard radio specs. watts and stuff like that. does the 1lt come with driver power seat? does the steering come with a manaul telescoping. this is my option plan.

1lt,manual 6spd,z51 w/3.42 rear,qg7 pollished wheels, npp so i don't have to buy a new cat back, and cc3. i am also concidering the 2lt, and 3lt. but i would like to have this be as light as poss. i just don't know what to do. so if u guys could give me ur opinions so i can make my mind up i would be greatful.thanks.
jay.

I agree with you and plan minimal if any mods. 1LT would probably be OK with either of us but I plan on 2LT mostly for the power passenger seat.

Z51 BUT plan to ask the dealer to swap me some regular C6 tires instead of the , IMO, dangerous in cold and wet, Z51s. If they won't do that I plan to take off the standard Z51s and replace with something better than GYs from the start.

NPP because of all the good initial reports about it. Because it's a factory option and because cat back aftermarket exhausts don't add much if any hp.

I plan to get the two tone seats red/black with black exterior not for speed but cause I like it a lot.

Also MAYBE chrome 5 spoke wheels but not needed for speed just like em.

3LT, 4LT? why? Bose ? Why? Nav? Why? don't need any of this stuff in a performance car.

Also, for weight and engine compartment heat reduction the worthless underhood insulation ( called 'mat' by most ) will be removed and stored for a resale. The fuel rail covers likewise are worthless and will be removed immediately.

The only non stock mod ( s ) I am considering is an Elite tunnel cover replacement for console heat reduction and possible stiffening of chassis. Proly ( as you put it ) NO other mods. With 436 hp I am not going to mess with tune, intake or anything that could in any way allow voiding of the warranty. Then if it breaks they will fix it.

good luck. BTW...a 1LT NPP virtually no options car costing low 40s new is one of the best performance cars ever producted IMO. And you don't need the head up , premium stereo, fancy wheels, or cowhide covered interior to make it go any faster.

well said. i took a ride over to the dealer i've been talking with. they have a few 07's. one has the base stereo. for what i want, it hits really nice. the highs, lows and bass are plenty for me.i will be to buisy listening to the exhaust to really warrant the bose.
i thought about doing the 2lt as well. still might, for the same reason u stated. but then again how many times will the passenger, in this case my girl have to fiddle with the seat adjustment. we'll see what happens.

also thought about going with the chrome wheels. but i will not. the pollished wheels will be lighter than chrome b/c they won't have coats of nickle and chrome. just pollished alluminum. if its too much work then i will get them clear coated, if they are not allready.
the tires will wear soon enough so i will put some better ones on when they go.
i just hope that all works out the way i would like it to. if not i'll get an older vette.

The polished wheels should be lot lighter because they are FORGED, with intrinsically better mechanical properties. And they are already clear-coated, so just maintain them like a painted surface. Rejex would be a fine choice.

If I were getting an 08, the forged polished wheels would be one of the FEW options on it.

Unless the tires are something other than "summer" tires, you will not be changing the colder weather characteristics of the tires. Unfortunately, summer only, or summer designation, means just that. As you probably already know.

You crazy speedster...stripping the Vette bare to the bone....that's rad.

Remove the "worthless" under-hood insulation for weight reduction? Have you ever picked-up a hood-liner? It isn’t very heavy. More importantly, it does serve a functional purpose.

I don’t know what kind of performance gain you expect to get at the track by removing the hood-liner and coil covers but I’d suggest removing the window washing fluid reservoir as well....there's some real weight savings. Maybe the carpet, radio and speakers...you don't need any of that fancy stuff to make your go faster.

I'm just pulling your chain but the hood-liner does have a purpose.
