I bought an 07-C6 LT3 without Nav and had the Dealer install the factory Nav.

Two problems. First, the Voice Activation doesn't work at all. Apparently there is no Microphone for it. Second, the HUD doesn't display any Nav info.

The dealer, Bob Stall in San Diego just told me that when the factory Nav gets installed by the dealer the mic doesn't get installed. He said if I had OnStar that would be used, but without OnStar there is no voice activation for the dealer installed Nav.

It is important to know that this IS the factory Nav, not an aftermarket one.

Question: does this sound right? Sounds pretty wrong to me.

Second, is there a setting somewhere in the Nav or the HUD to have the Nav info displayed in the HUD? The dealer said there was a setting, he couldn't remember where, but it was in the Nav user's manaul. I checked in there and the only section on HUD in the Nav manual (page 75) describes what gets displayed and nothing about options.

Question: anyone know where to look for that info?

My guesses are that the dealer "forgot" to put the Mic in for the voice activation and that it should have been installed. He wants more money to do it now. My guess with the HUD is maybe a wire or two didn't get connected correctly during installation.

Any thoughs would be most welcome.

NAV equipped cars have a different under dash wiring harness than non-NAV equipped cars. Part of installing a NAV in a non-NAV car is replacing the wiring harness. Also, non-NAV non-OnStar cars don't have a microphone in the driver's A pillar, or the wiring to connect it to the NAV. Part of the installation is to add this microphone, an A pillar cover with opening for the sound, and the wiring to make it work. Non-NAV cars also don't have a GPS antenna under the dash pad above the left center A/C vent. That must be added as well.

The NAV talks to the HUD over the car's Class II data buss. This buss must be properly attached to the NAV and the BCM must be reflashed to direct NAV display packets to the HUD. (Among its many other functions, the BCM acts as the router for data packets in the car, translating between the Class II buss and the GMLAN buss as needed.)

The map itself does not get displayed in the HUD, only the indicators for an upcomming turn when using route guidance. Are you sure that you actually have a mic installed. It's possible that your A-piller may have the grill and mounting cavity for the mic without one actually installed behind it since your Vette was built without an option that makes use of it.
