Default Random thoughts- vanity plates

Since I have 3 weeks to wait for the Vert to get here, I am going over every single thread, post, looking at all the parts I am going to 'have' to buy, and of course looking for a cover, hard top, all the necessary stuff.
I noticed one thing, that many of the Vette owners have a cool personalized plate. I have a few ideas, but it's hard ot choose one that isnt too nerdy or noobie bait.

My company name is Excel Credit Services Inc, so thought maybe "EXC-EL" or just EXCEL? This is the most important to me, the name EXCEL has gotten us everything we have.

I also own a small machine/welding/fabricating shop, which is Excel Creative Concepts, so back to excel again?

Our names are Ken, Kerry, Brittany and Kyle, thought KKBK, but if I go down south will I get shot?

I have seen some great plates in here, but dont want to steal any. One guy in Montana had a good one, XLR8ING.

My last name is Lysons, so of course I could have a LYSONS plate- how literal!

I think EXCEL would be cool. How about EXCELR8....that would kill 2 birds with one stone! We got our first C6 about a month ago. My wife is the primary drive and she's a librarian. Her vanity plate sas "SHHH"

Just my $0.02, but I would stay away from company names or acronyms for family members.

It seems that most people's vanity plates describe the car (06C6Z), or actions pertinent to the car (ITSFAZT), or who's azz you're going to kick with the car (VIPERETR)

My plate story:
I left corporate America (after 15 years) to start my own company - a dot com selling computer peripherals. I chose my plate (HIRISC) as an homage to the risk involved in walking from a very lucrative career, combined with the 'C' from 'RISC' (as in RISC processors as in computers) as a little fun twist that only the geeky car guys really get.

Thankfully, it's worked out

GL on your choice.

Using EXCEL would be great. Don't worry about stealing someone's else's plate...if it's available in your State it's all good. There likely isn't much you can use that hasn't already been used some where. There are some great personalized plates and besides the great listing on the forum, there are entire web sites to get ideas from.

My 10 year old son picked mine but we had several we were contemplating. I also did photoshop versions of each beforehand so we could see what they looked like.

I don't like overly clever plates that you can't readily understand. I like being able to read it and to understand it immediately. Go with your instincts....it sounds like EXCEL means the most to you.

YOu could also try EXCELLED or XCELD, depends on how many spaces/letters you are allowed. Good luck in picking a good one.

I don't like overly clever plates that you can't readily understand. .
IF it is available and legal in your state or in your case provence get it.

I have been to Carlisle a lot and its not unsual to see the same plate on cars from different states.. If fact one year I saw the same thing on 3 different cars all parked within the same small area. (about a 100ft square)

Still though it will make your about as special as you can make it, and for me it only cost a few bucks a year. I do not have a clue what it costs in Canads though!

Just be prepared for the Microsoft attorneys when they accuse you of copyright violation on EXCEL.

Thus I second the nomination of EXCELR8.

In Florida, mine is the very nerdy:

There was a picture of two Vets side by side with the same plate.
Different states. They thought it was cool. Sorry. Know not where.

I believe, have what is understandable as we drive by.
As was previously posted. At least put the reading/saying on a piece of cardboard. Large marker pen letters. Stand back to view it and C what U think of it.

XCELR8, XCEL, I EXCEL, WE EXCEL, ALL XL, ALL XCEL

West Va, N York, and N Carolina are the only states that permit 8 characters.

Go to your DMV to find out the requirements. Then play around with your choices. Sometimes what you want can't be done. Vanity plate are cool, and you will enjoy them.
