Default JSB with Comp. Gray wheels pic

Went to this dealer around the first of July to order a '08. The salesman and I seemed to hit it off pretty well and we discussed the ordering of this 1LT, JSB, CC3, QX1. They would not accept my CC deposit (personal check only, which I did not have at the time) and no sales agreement was ever presented or signed. We were just BS'n and all sudden I was showed the front door and told mail us your check. I left with the impression they were no going to order the car until they had my deposit. It was a disappointing experience at best, but a learning one.

After becoming a CF member, I determined this dealer either did not have an allocation or they were holding the allocation to build a more expensive Corvette with a lot more options. So, about two weeks after my visit, the saleman called me and I told him I was no longer interested.

Well, it has been approx. 7 weeks from my visit to this dealership and I get a call saying the Corvette "I built" is ready. I told the saleman politely I am still no longer interested in buying this Corvette. He decided to send me this pic to persuade me to come in, not working

It is a beautiful Corvette. I will not go see it in person because it is a two hour drive, ordered somewhere else and do not intend to play games with this dealership with no intention whatsoever of buying this car.

Just passing along the pic for CF members to see.

OBTW, my ordered one will look identical. Now there will be twins in this area.

I'm only kidding. Really. Just playing off the other thread.

I really do like it from pictures I've seen, and can't wait to see it in person.

Congratulations, and good luck with your new ride. Really.

this was a typical dealer scam. no "order" written and would only take a personal check so you have no recourse once you give them the money. they would deposit that check immediately and then start playing their games. have seen this done ALL the time.

rubbing my forehead on this one, how was it a scam? order a car, leave a deposit. sounds pretty straight-forward to me......as far as the credit card, did you know technically its ILLEGAL to make a deposit on a car, buy a car with a credit card? maybe they didnt want to pay the fee associated with it? sounds like this dealer was on the "up and up" to me. pretty car ive wondered about that combo.

By law, Federal laws apply on CC, you can use up to 2500.00 as a down payment or a deposit on a credit card.

taking a deposit without a written order? your kidding. right? no written order means "no deal". no such thing as a "binding" verbal contract in my book legally speaking. you don't have to "honor" something that doesn't exist.

Aren't you even interested in hearing what the dealer is willing to take for the car? I'd at least make them an offer.....I must be missing something. It does look very nice.

No its not a scam. I paid $1k waay back in Dec last year.
It was on my CC, and it cleared way back.

I went back last week and asked for my money back. I was just getting MSRP from them, so why bother. They said it'll be in the mail.

come to think of it, where is that check...

If this is the car you want, why just go get it? I'm confused...

I don't care for it. Get the 2LT at minimum and get the Z51 pak. Smoked tops are ugly to me. I like the top color keyed to the car. On hot days you will hate it. Just my 2 cents.
