I will use anything with the GM 4718 cert on it. I think Pennzoil Platinum is in them right now.

Castrol 0w-30 imported from Germany. Oil analysis shows German Castrol to be way better than Mobil1. Wear on the internals is a lot less.

That's odd despite "less wear", it seems to cause the MPG and Max HP to drop on the vette. There's been 2 seperate post confirming this by different people. And yes they used Castrol and dyno'd it on similar days, and ran 3 full tanks of gas to obtain a good average.

It came with Mobile 1. I will continue to use it. Been doing that since I got my 98 Vert

In fact that is the only oil I keep around, it goes in everthing snowblower, generator, boat, ATV and our other cars and truck.

Picked up some Mobil 1 today ... 10-30 wt. They also have the Mobil 1 5000 stuff @ 22.00.

Good for extra 2000 miles between changes .... so they claim.

Anyone using the 5000 variety of Mobil 1 ??

It probably was not the Castrol imported from Germany. The German Castrol can be VERY hard to find.

I tried to search for an old thread, but it looks like Corvette Forum removed it? I'll have some people that know a lot of oil chime in when they have a chance.

If you go here...

http://theoildrop.server101.com/foru...t=0&Board=UBB3

...you'll find tons of used oil analysis reports from many different types of vehicles, and there are a number of guys who show their comparison of German Castrol 0w30 to other popular oils, including Mobil 1. It's important to note that the nickname of German Castrol 0w30 is GC 0w30, so you will sometimes find that as the name in the topic title.
