Please report back after six months. My experience would suggest you will have at least one per month visits to the BMW dealer. Walking by the elegant parts department/boutique, you will have seen lots of great clothes, pens, toys, models, wheels, books, key chains and other crap. Enjoy your visits to the BMW dealer; the flavored coffee is wonderful and the wide screen TV looks great from the comfy leather couches. I made about nine of those service visits in six months. The cars are fragile. They are beautiful - prettier than the Corvette. BMW has elegant showrooms - much nicer than my Chevrolet '60s era Nova/Malibu/Impala era dealer. The restrooms are clean, checked every hour I'm sure. The BMW car is a thrill to drive. It is well designed and comfortable. But the durability is nominal. Beware to anyone else; the BMWs are very satisfying until they break. The dealerships are beautiful. The people are nice. They give you a loaner car for your time and trouble and eventually fix the car. But the cars break. They are not durable. I know from experience. I don't know that the Corvette will be any more durable but I do know that the BMW is not durable. Enjoy the BMW; it is a blast to drive. But watch the durability. The cars fail often and the repair takes forever - but they will treat you much better than the Chevy dealer does.

I came to my senses that the Vette is not the only car that is cool. I am sick of the power trip and the attitude I have had that more power is better. I am sick of punching it, sick of taking chances with it, sick of waving, sick of people looking over, sick of the aggressive driving, sick of cleaning and polishing it and did I mention I was sick and tired of seeing other Vettes on the road. I am sick about talking about the car and I am sick of people telling me I am crazy for getting rid of it and I am sick about worrying about where to park it. I'm sick of thinking about what year Vette I am going to buy next. Should I get an 08 with 30 more HP or wait for the next generation? should I mod it to keep up with the next guy? It's all BS. It's like a favorite meal that I have eaten over and over again to i'm tired of eating the same thing. The car is so wonderful I am sick of it. God bless all of you. I hope you never get this tired of it and yes I am insane.

I'm not sure how to even begin with this one. OK, so you've decided to make a change. It happens. But of all the things you could replace your Vette with, a BMW????? Z4??????? C'mon, you can do better than that! Let your forum buddies help you with this very important decision. I'll start by making a few recommendations:
  • Mazda MX-5
  • M-B SLK
  • Audi S4 Cabriolet
  • Volvo C70

I like the cars you mentioned but the black on black Z4 with spoiler and 18" sport wheels and red seats is pretty impressive with the top down. Check it out at BMWUSA.com if you care too. Select the build the car feature.

See ya . . . wouldn't want to be ya.

Just kidding. Every now and then I remember the fun I had on some winding roads with my 350Z. Really a fun, road hugging car.

Good luck and hope to see you back soon.

Sooo you DONT think you will have those exact same things in a new Beemer??

you will probably have even more of many of those things

(i like my 06 330xi NO problems at all, more solid and securely built,
not held together by cheap plastic push pin type things..

the only time i went to the dealers was to Drop in for free snacks! and watch the giant screen TV for a game )

American Dealers could take some lessons!

BTW good luck i like Z4 allot also
