As already stated- the salesperson was and is an idiot. WE as owners need to read the manuals we are given, but damn, don't you think a stealership would require a salesperson to have an (at least) a basic understanding of the car they were trying to sale?

Your saleman is an idiot. Maybe he was the 4 wheel drive truck sales guy just filling in for the day. Hey wait a minute, you don't even have to stop for that anymore either. So......I guess back to my original thought......he was just an idiot.
Do not believe anything the car sales guys tell you about the car. Do your homework. I am amazed at how many guys have tried to sell me Vettes and when you talk to them, they are totally full or crap (or clueless) about the car, what GM offers on the car, how it works, what it does, etc.
