The mp3 playerI was speaking of IS mp3 only. It's basically a small computer with a huge hard drive containing as many mp3's as you want (up to the limit). I transferred all of my CDs to mp3 (about 230) recorded at 160 Kbps and they fit on a 20 gig hard drive. I am currently looking for a larger hard drive, and 60 gigs are getting cheaper evreyday. That would hold enough music for you to listen non-stop for over a month! Just think, stash the box somewhere; the unit is navigated through a small LCD screen, and there are no CDs or expensive-looking head units to entice would-be thieves! Granted the sound isn't QUITE as good as with CD, but your car SHOULD be loud enough for that not to make a difference! :yesnod:
When on-the-fly MP3-encoding CD-R storing decks with one-button dub are under $500, or when there's one standard media chip with a unit cost under $5 for a CD's worth of CD-quality music, then you can say MP3 is mainstream and worth building into a car.
Sorry, no MP3, but it will be a complex satellite radio type unit. :yesnod:
i totally agree with bobsz06 on this one. the satellite radio would be much better i hear cadillac is already using it and since that new cadillac is being worked on at BG why can't caddy hand over the same stuff to the new vette?
I just want a "line in" jack. I have never put a CD into my C5 Bose. I never will. I doubt that I will ever put a CD into my CD changer at home again. The only place I ever put a CD is in my Computer to rip it into MP3's. I don't even want to put a CD with 150 MP3 into a player. I have over 15 GB of MP3's on my portable Jukebox. I like having all my files on one portable drive with the flexibility to have infinite playlists.
Aftermarket satellite radios are avalilable through Sony and Pioneer at Best Buy. Around $250 plus $10 a month subscription to get dozens of digital sound stations that play from coast to coast with no interruptions.

Amen. An AUX-in would be just great. I have a PJB-100 jukebox (20GB) and it goes with me everywhere. Best investment I ever made. At the moment I'm having to use a damn casette adaptor to work with my BOSE system. Tell me, does anyone know how the CD Changer in the C5 interfaces with the head unit? Is there an aux in port at the back? Or does it use RF?
The C6 should have and probably will have sattelite radio. Heck the Olds Alero
is getting it for the '03 model. The CD player should have an MP3 Decoder
built in. Heck I can buy a home DVD player that can play MP3s from a CD-R
for under $200. It would be really nice to have a plyer that can play
CDs and DVDs (MP3s on DVD-R and DVD-Audio).

Re: MP3 Player? (Matt Black)
Let's all chant now, then - "Dave, Bob, we want an AUX INPUT on the front control panel for our Discmans and iPods..."
...and make the standard radio an MP3/6disc in radio CD changer. Acts like a single CD radio, but will hold 6 CD's. Geez....the Ford RANGER has one of these with mega power :smash:
O.K. I don't own a vette cause i'm savin money 4 college, but if i have to live in a cardboard box and eat brad and drink water for the rest of my life, I WILL OWN A VETTE. No not a chevette a CORVETTE
O.K. about the XM radio. I don't think that They will put it in because there's a monthly subscription of $20 so the people that don't want it will be out of luck, unless you put it as an option, but I think that CD/MP3 should be standard and the AUX In should be included also as MP3 players and those jukeboxes are becoming extremly popular.
I can't speak from experience, but I thought that Bose was a good company when it came to sound equipment. I got their sound system at home and it's very good. What kind of problems are with the Bose system????
But Bose is decent quality, BUT it's way over priced. When you listen to it in a show room generally (almost always actually) the bose speakers are in their own room, and if there are any speakers to compare it to, they are low end competitor's speakers. The Bose rooms are designed for the bose speakers, it's not a fair listening test.
However that said, bose speakers are ok, they aren't fantastic, but they are ok. I won't start a whole this speaker is better then that, but try listening to planear (major sp) speakers if you have the $'s. You'll need a good amp with at least 125w-150w to power them, but when they are set up with the right matching sub/front speaker the effect is unbelievable. Esp for piano or other orchastra music (and I hate classical... ;-) )
Before you ask, no I don't have any planear speakers, I'm saving for the vette :)
(I will either own a vette in 2 months and a traiblazer in 6, or a trail blazer in 2 months and a vette in september, having a rough time deciding if I could live with just a vette as my only car...)
