Default Help, what's this called?

I'm taking my C6 into the dealership tomorrow so they can fix my roof delamination problem. While I'm there I want them to check a bolt on the engine that has caused several owners of earlier C6s problems. The problem, as I remember, was basically this bolt would loosen up or come off entirely. I don't know if this was related to the pully or the crank. I've tried using the search feature on this site. However, as you may have guessed, it turns up just about every sort of bolt one could imagine. Does anyone remember what this bolt problem was called? Thanks for the help.

Not sure the exact name (crank pulley nut?), but if your 2005 has made it this far you probably need not worry about it. BTW, the problem only occurs in early production models in 2005.

search for "crank pulley failure" and you'll find out the info you need.

Thanks everyone. I found it! It's a TSB for the crank pully bolt. The TSB is, 05-06-01-001A. Thanks again for the quick replies. Hopefully my VIN doesn't fall into the range.

Yes, it is the 'crank-pulley' bolt or the bolt for the harmonic balancer (a special "torque-to-yeild" bolt"). You might want to check the C6 FAQs page, I imagine the problem is listed there in some detail. Also, there was a VIN range supposedly affecting only very early model 2005 C6s. While the problem may have affected this VIN range with more ferocity, I believe no C6 is totally immune.

I wouldn't be overly concerned but if it makes you feel better, ask the dealership to check it.
