Lots of smaller townships that want to impose a toll (ticket) pass local regs that will make you a target with tint... Seriously about all you can get away with in Chicagoland area is tinting rear.
I noticed many vettes have the windows tinted. I'm just curious why this is? Do people have it done at the dealership?
Well the obvious answer is looks, looks a lot nicer IMHO to have windows tinted. I just got mine done 2 days ago %15 Llumar for back and sides. Here in Florida you can generally get away with your choice of tint since everybody has it. Another item is protecting your interior from the sun. A nice UV blocking tint can do wonders for protecting leather interior.

Especially when quota time rolls around.

Had mine for a year and a half... got pull over once(mail in $20 citation)
Having a FOP(Fraternal Order of Police) plate doesn't hurt. ;~)
Ask around and find a good tinting shop. If you go to the dealer, they'll farm it out to someone and it will cost you double. I would, however, stay within legal limits of your state.

I don't know where you live but I can assure you....if you lived in a State with relentless sunshine and high heat such as Arizona or Florida, you would understand why people tint their windows. Additional tinting greatly reduces the heat inside the car and vastly improves the comfort level.
Some people tint their windows primarily for appearance. IMO tinting is essential but don't use tinting that is too dark. You need adequate visibility for safety. I've been in some cars where even on a bright day if you wear sunglasses you can't see out. At night, you don't have safe visibility at all.
My dealership has a particular tint shop they use for tinting and the tint shop comes right to the dealership to do the work. The price was virtually the same if I went directly to the tint shop or had it done at the dealership....going through the dealership was more convenient for me.
