Embarrassing Speeding Ticket
I got a speeding ticket in Lawty Florida on the way back from Carlise. Lawty is a well known speed trap, even being highlighted by the AAA in large signs entering the town. What's embarrassing is that the ticket was for 37 in a 20 mph zone. I was really very careful in entering the town, knowing of the speed trap. But I missed a school zone sign at one intersection on 301. So anyone traveling on 301 be very careful and alert near the towns of Lawty and Waldo.

there are some whole counties that I know plan for this "revenue generation" that I don't steer clear of. instead, I use up their roads but buy noting within their confines. no food, no gas, no lodging, NADA. which means, no revenue. small potatoes, but MY potatoes.

I'm sorry about your citation...don't be embarrassed. Hopefully you have some 'driver's education' option which will eliminate having points on your record....the local jurisdiction stills get money and you keep a clean record.

I missed a school sign on a major highway once and got a ticket, and when I went to change insurance companies later in the year, they found record of that ticket. To them, a school zone ticket is like going 150 in a 70, one of the worst tickets you can get. Good thing my old insurance company took me back.

Waldo is a few miles south and has a good trick. The speed limit drops quickly from 65 to 55 to 45 (with a quick change traffic light thrown for good measure) then back up to 55 for a mile then quickly back down to 45. Veer left at the overpass and it instantly drops to 30 with a 20 MPH school zone. Go straight at the overpass (try to maintain 45 on the downhill side) and you will discover Waldo has two LEO's. This one likes to sit in the Piano shop parking lot in the middle of a sweeping left turn on 301.
