I programmed my visor on my 08 with the lear garage door control. My garage door opens and closes but you have to be almost on top of it for it to work. Anyone else have this problem? I practically have to bang the nose of the car against the garage door before it will open the garage. Half the time when backing out, I have to pull forward again so I can get the garage door to close. My remote works from the street. My wifes lexus has the built in garage door thing and it works from the street as well.
I think it is the garage door opener, not the signal from the vette. I have mine programed for two different doors. One opens from the bottom of my driveway (80') and the other behaves like yours. I almost have to bump the door before it opens.
If you look on the garage door opener there should be a **** that you twist to get the 'range', play with this until you get the range you want, then reset your opener.
well I can check that, mine is a genie. I don't think there is anything for setting range, just to set how the door goes up and down.
It doesn't seem likely that it could be the garage door opener as it works fine with the stock remotes and with the wifes 06 Lexus. It should work at least part way down the driveway on my new car I would think.

I'll be happy to help you out, but first I need to see the face of the young lady who was apparantly cleaning (or something to that effect) your stickshift.
It's the same with my 2005. I have to get the car close to the garage door, press and hold the button before the door opens. The hand-held garage door remote works fine from a distance. I've thought about extending the antennae (from the garage door opener) closer to the garage door to see if that helps.
Was the battery in your original remote new when you programed the Lear system? If it is like the Homelink system if the battery is low in your garage remote when you program, there is a chance of very low range.
I have a 2007 model with the Lear unit and a Genie garage door opener. I live on a corner and when I am on the street in front of the house, before I turn onto the side street to which my drive is attached, I can open the garage door. The range is quite good. It seems you have some sort of problem...
yes, the lear does not use the remote to program, programs right off the unit. Maybe I can try to reprogram it again. Wish lear would talk about it, I believe they came on the forum one time.

I dissagree. The opener in my Infiniti works easily from 100' away, and the one in my Expedition close to that. The Corvette is like the OP says - practically have to be right on it. I've had probably 20 vehicles with Homelink since I've lived in my house, and the '08 is worst by a wide margin.

I can tell you for certain that my openers have no such setting.
tested it when coming back from dinner, it opened halfway down my driveway. Thing is, sometimes it does that, sometimes you have to just about hit the garage. Like I literally back out in the morning to about half way down the driveway, same place I hit the button when coming home from dinner tonight and it does nothing. I pull up a little closer, does nothing, pull up just about where I"m hitting the nose of the car on the garage door and it opens. It has to be the unit, no other explanation. Question is, if its all units, is their something we can do to fix it?

This man hads something. With a fresh battery my car system works better than my remote. Had same problem until I installed new battery in remote.
Erase and start over.
