Default run flats problem

had the ol c6 out tonight and noticed the tire pressure warning came on, i quickly filled it up (17 psi) at a filling station and then an hour later it was down to 5 psi!......i thought the run flats couldnt go flat? is is safe to drive on? i have also noticed that some of the other tires seem to leak after filling...........for example evertime i fill my rear tires to 40, two days later one is still at forty and the other 33.....am i taking crazy pills here whats up with the supercar z51 tires?

Probably valve stem nuts or schrader valve, check beezye's posts here http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...ve+stem+torque

I hope you're putting in 40 psi just to check for your leak problem Good luck

They can go flat but allow a maximum emergency operating distance of 100 miles (less is better if you want to save the tire) at 55 mph to allow you to get to a repair center.

I recommend reading your Owner's Manual, it gives a full explanation of the EMTs (run flats).

Since the recommended tire pressure is 30 psi, I also am not sure why you're putting 40 psi in, is it just to check for leaks?

P.S. You might want to update your profile, it still shows your C5 info only.

Good Luck!

They're called "run flat tires" because they can be driven on when there is no air pressure, they are not called "never lose air pressure tires".

Runflat does not mean the tire cannot lose air pressure. You can, however, continue driving on a runflat tire (after losing air pressure) at reduced speeds on a limited basis. You've got some leaking tires and/or valves...have them checked at a shop qualified to work on runflats.

You're also over-inflating your tires (at 40psi). Check the recommended tire inflation guide on the driver's side (inside) door frame.
