Default Mod Question

Hello Forum, With so many things mod on a vette what would you suggest be the first thing to start modding? What did you mod first?

What are you interested in doing? Some mod mostly for performance while others mod for appearance. Others do a combination. Know also that more radical performance mods may adversely affect your warranty. It really depends on what you're interested in and what your budget allows.

I think it's best to start off slow....take your time and research what you want to do. Sometimes (especially with performance mods) there are pros and cons.

What did I do first? Other than a little license plate frame I left my C6 stock for the first year...then I sort of went crazy doing quite-a-few performance mods at the same time (including putting-in an entirely different engine).

Let us know where your interest lies and you'll get all sorts of ideas.

I'm thinking about doing performance mods but don't really want to void any warranties, any ideas?

cold air intake, headers, exhaust system are all pretty basic mods that add good power and wake the car up quite a bit, headers being the biggest one.

Any particular brands that you would suggest?

Vararam CAI. You may also want to start off with painted fuel rail covers.

First thing I did was take off those darn chicklets and visor stickers.

Second mod was a predator tune which also disabled CAGS, and I installed Elite Engineering's aluminum gas pedal along with a leather padded center console.

Third mod was Stratmosphere floor and cargo mats, probably should have done this sooner.

Exhaust and suspension upgrades are planned for the near future.

There's many ways you could go about doing this depending on your $ situation. The way I'm going to mod my new C6 is by starting with the runflat tires. I would ditch them for BF Goodwrich KDW 2 non runflat same size tires. You'll lose almost 2 Lbs per tire as well. Next I would do some sort of cold air intake, maybe a Callaway Honker, Hurricane or Vara Ram with an air coupler. Then I would have the Intake Manifold ported and maybe the throttle body, then I would go with a nice set of Long Tube Headers.... Kooks, LG, AR, Dynatech, ect ect. With a 2.5" X-Pipe with Hi-Flow Cats. After that I would go with an aftermarket Exhaust system like Borla, B&B, GHL, Magnaflow, or whatever...It's mostly for sound but does free up a few HP I believe.
Next I would get a 160-178* thermostat to help lower the temps a bit. & last but not least.....I would get a DYNO TUNE by a pro. That is really important. If you want to get real extreme you could go Heads & Cam with a FAST 90 Intake Manifold, or go Forced Induction like a Turbo or Supercharger. Let us know how it turns out

Well then don't do the headers.

I would keep to cold air intake, stat, ported throttle body and high air flow exhaust system and a tune.
