has anyone put in a backup camera or sensors using the existing nav
I'm not sure if the factory stereo/ nav system allows aux. video inputs... Most cars I've seen with backup cams either use them with new head units or use a setup that comes with a small in car screen/ monitor...
Seen this for sale @ Walmarts for $89...

Yes there is a way to hook up a back up camara and use the nav screen instead of having to mount a small monitor somewhere in the car. Heres the e-mail I sent to X.com (non forum vendor pm me for the web address):
I'm taking delivery of a 2008 Corvette with the NAV option in November. Just wondering about a few things...
1. Can ya'll make the NAV option for a 2008 Corvette play DVD's?
2. Is it a kit I can install myself or do I have to send my head unit to you for modification?
3. If it dose go to you for modification is it an external removable mod or internal non removable? (if the head unit stops working and GM sees a mod there goes my warranty claim)
4. What kind of warranty is there if the head unit stops working? (internal non removable mod)
5. How long dose it take if I have to send the unit to you?
6. Will it affect any of the existing features of the unit ie. NAV, XM, CD, AM/FM?
7. HOW MUCH?????
Thanks
Eric
Heres what I got back:
Hi
The mod for that car is $499 and you have to send in the radio. This will give you 2 video inputs 1 for dvd and 1 for backup camera. It will have no effect on anything in the car. The warranty is 1 year.
Thanks
Dominic
There you go. As I said if someone wants to get the web address just PM me.
