A while back, my check engine light went on. Uh-oh, my first trip to the dealer (got car in April, 5500 miles). At the suggestion of several forum members I went to AutoZone. They offered to let me use a reader but I opted to buy one - Actron CP9125. Cost about $60. It was simple to use. I read the codes and reset them, and the check engine light went off. The codes indicated a bad gas cap. I had already checked it when the light went on but I rechecked. So far so good. The other thing is that - amazingly - there seems to be standardization on the codes, so I was able to Google the code and get lots of reading material on the causes. Thanks everyone.
