I think I cracked the rear leaf spring again because I heara creaking noise in the rear that sounds like the last time I broke it along with the WCC lowering bolts. Is my car too low?
Does anyone know a good place to get a good deal on a new leaf spring? Cost?
'06 C6 lowered to the max WCC bolts will allow on front and rear.
I broke one on a 94 coupe and it was because I used to clean the undercarrage aluminim with an acid aluminum wheel cleaner by Eagle 1. We did not know it then but now we know it erodes the epoxy in the fiberglass spring. Now in the owners manuals it states not to use the stuff - have you been using it??
If, in fact, you did break your transverse leaf spring for a second time I don't think you need to ask if your car is too low.
no way dude, lowered is sic, totally worth it, I say lower it more
the Vette is all about image and style, you posers driving 'em because they are fast are just fowling up mother earth with hydrocarbons and ya'all probably live in a trailer park and get your TV reception thru busted rabbit ears.

Maybe, but I bet they can construct a sentence. Those who live in glass houses.......

So having the car just for looks is not being a poser, but driving it is?

You are a fool; I don’t appreciate being lumped into a "poser" because my car is not lowered. You just really showed how intelligent you are and your ignorant stereotype about living conditions which probably reflects where you grew up and how much you hated it.

Thanks for all the replies. i haven't had time to even investigate my rear end. I haven't driven my car in about 3 wks. I'm going under her today to check everything out. I did a visual a week ago without jacking the car up and couldn't see any breaks on the rear leaf spring or the lowering bolts which apparently failed the last time I busted the spring (k).
QUESTION:
Would the rear composite leaf spring show cracks or has it just lost its ability to "spring".
I will check tonight now that I have time.......I didn't touch the car due to my State of CA Professional Engineer licensing Examination....now it's time to find the problem and play!!!!!!

I use the Dupont wheel cleaner with teflon on the wheels only. Is this something I need to be worried about?
