let's just say hypothetically that a certain corvette owner became a little frisky once recently along two lightly traveled stretches of access road along a major highway which has retaining walls on one side and a field on the other. Usually this vette owner practices restraint because of his position and that he lives in a small town with a very visible car with cat-backs.
On my way to work at the same time each day on the same second access section, there was a LEO with laser. Because of his position he only would be able to hit the top of trucks with his beam on the main highway. I was in my Intrepid because of a rain prediction later today. Open section of road with the vette - I would have been nailed. To clarify it would be jumping on the throttle at 45 mph up to about 90 on a 1/4 mile stretch then braking very early for a street light. NO RACING.
Are they out to get me?
Well no. The local LEOs are becoming very sophisticated when setting up speed traps. They are nailing people left and right around here. As a parent and bicyclist I'm glad for their presence but as a sports car owner sometimes I feel conflicted.
Sadly, they're out to get everyone! BTW, you don't need 2 cars to "race." There are legal venues for that need for speed. That said I sometimes feel the 'conflict' myself.
