when i got my new 03 vette i let the grandsport sit for about a week without driving it and had the same thing happen... but i didn't notice it till i took it for a drive and it heated up in traffic... the little sucker had chewed the wires to the fan in half... i bought some rodent bait and never had another problem with them... you know it's working when you see the bait going away... all of a sudden the bait was never touched again.... problem solved...

Yup. It wasn't with a Vette, but it was with a Berreta. I had left the car sitting over most of the summer one year as I was happily driving MG's and enjoying the weather (before I got married and could still do that sort of thing). When I went to get it out, it wouldn't start. Battery was good, but just would not run. I popped the hood and, like you, saw seeds and all kinds of droppings all over the engine. When I pulled the air cleaner box, there it was. They had gotten into the air intake and built a condo. Worse yet, they chewed up the air filter to get the material to make the condo. The entire housing was just an absolute mess with mice.
