Upon lifting the hood of my 05 vette the other day, I noticed what looked like little seeds on my intake manifold. Then I saw some pink fiberglass insulation poking out between the plastic valve cover and the engine. Thought it rather odd that there would be common insulation used in that area. Fortunately, the valve cover pops off easily, and guess what was there! A mouse house/den. Guess someone was looking for an upscale home for the winter! Anyone else ever have a similar situation? Am going to try a ultrasonic deterrent, if that doesn't work, then it will be time for a more final solution......
I suspect it's not that uncommon. I've heard about putting a mesh bag of mothballs around the area will keep them away. They leave a mess behind that is hard to clean up. Good luck what ever you do, and let us know what works.
Final solution would be my first reaction, and it would be swift. I like animals actually, but rodents gnaw on electrical wires & can cause damage. Had the little bastards chew up major electrical wires in the attic where I used to live, and it was a fire danger.
well i had a rat do that. they like manifolds. this was on a custom built 240z. rat chewed up wires, upholstery, i had 2 sportbikes. rat chewed the corner of one plastic antifreeze bottle in the bike. bike would slosh a tiny bit out every once and a while.
put poison pellets out and that took care of mister rat.
It might be an endangered mouse family living in there. You must not drive the vette until the mouse has moved out. I'll notify PETA immediately!
Neighbors are willing to testify that a certain forum member has been harassing the family. Only reason they are being evicted is the fact the the female is pregnant. EEOC and Fair Housing people would like to hear about that.
Please forward cat to South Dennis, MA for mouse control.....
His name is Mango and he leaves offerings of dead mice and birds at my garage door. There are no mice living in my vette I will let him know that he is temporarilly reassigned.
You need to get together with OP. Problem will be solved shortly.
Kind of like the story about two psychologists I knew. One told a story about a female pt who lost a lipstick tube somewhere. Other psychologist talked about a male pt who got stuck in a vacuum cleaner. We decided that we would get both of these pts together. Problem solved, hopefully.
Ditto the sticky pads for the mouse problem. I leave one sitting on my intake any time shes:smash not going to move for a while. Also keep a couple of the more serious traps on the shop floor. Im out in the country and my neighbor is a retired farmer type. Every time he plows, I have a mouse in the shop problem. One chewed through the insulation on the ground wire off the pos battery terminal and cost me a ride home on a rollback truck.
Thats when I quit being nice.. trust me there are plenty off them left...

Rendition.
You really have to get out and drive the car more often.
But seriously those varmints can be trouble. I had pack rats nest in an RV engine. Even after cleaning out the nest the engine caught fire the first time I drove it....they chew through wiring, hoses, whatever. Check your car carefully before you drive it.
