oil changes

Should you change the oil for the first time at 1000 miles disregarding time the car has been driven?

I didn't, others will tell u different. I just changed mine yesterday for the first time (3834 miles) (48%)

This gets discussed to death quite often. I did my first oil change at 5000 miles. DIC said I had 44% left. Next time I plan to go until it says less than 10% left or one year, whichever comes first.

It's a feel good thing probably. I did mine at 1,400 miles. I don't think it was necessary, but it was cool to me to get in there & figure out my jacking routine & oil change procedure for this car.

I don't know that I would wait until 10%, I changed it the first time at 3000 mi. good luck to you....

This question is regularly posed on the Forum & you'll get conflicting answers. For my 2 cents, I've always been conservative with oil changes.....4000-5000 miles in vehicles using regular oil & 8000-10000 miles with synthetic. Did 1st change in my C6 at 1200 miles....I figure an oil & filter change is cheap insurance for long engine life.
