First post
I haven't owned one since 78, but after driving the ls3 w/npp I was hooked. Kids are out of the house and now it is time to have some fun. I am planning on ordering one sometime after the first of the year. VR of course.
My first question is do you think the post delivery inspection, pdi, that the museum does is equal to or better than a competent tech at a stealership? Do museum personnel make adjustments, etc. that would normally be done? I'm considering the museum delivery. I have already been to the factory and museum, but think it would still be nice to put all the miles on the car myself. Do the museum folks even drive the car to find any defects? Any comments appreciated. dkf

...it's time in your life, after the kids have left the "nest", to make your priorties your own!
Do whatever pleases YOU...
...personally, I would do the museum delivery option. I was there a month ago, and met several people and saw them take delivery of there new "babies" and their sheer exitement was great. The smiles on their faces were fun to watch. If you can afford to do it, go for it...

Go for it. I went with my 11yr old son, Just the two of us, we had the an incredible trip. Here are some pics...
When you first walk in you see your name on these flat panel T.V.'s

Your car is waiting for you

Tour Guides

Then you get the tour of the factory....speechless

Your car will get a NCM gold sticker

The tour of the Museum

They will pull the car out for you

Your turn to have the fun...

You just have to do the NCM! Good luck! We are all waiting to read about your day at the NCM and to see your pics.

First, the car is identified as an R8C delivery as its being buillt. Therefore, the folks on the assembly line know any problems/defects are not going to be some dealer's problem, but its coming right back to the plant from the NCM PDI to get corrected.
Second, although no doubt there are some good dealer techs, I reasoned its hard to find folks who know more about the 'Vette PDI (and more) than the NCM. Plus, they are extremely committed, its not "just another car" as may be the case at a dealership.
Third, no extended exposed truck time (although it will be outside for 2 weeks).
Even though I've had the tour, etc, when I buy another, I'll do the NCM delivery again.
Good Luck!!

Here's my Z sitting in the museum right now:

The detail folks at the museum do an outstanding job. They know your car is going to be displayed and hundreds of visitors are going to see it. They want it to look as perfect as possible.
Every car is dyno tested and run up to approx. 75 mph. All systems are checked. Then it's tested in a high pressure water spray booth for leaks. Your car will be driven outside on their test track. So, your gonna have a few miles on the car when you take actual delivery.
