I tried the LED tail light bulbs... they had some ridiculously-high number of LEDs in each bulb (34?) but I saw that they were still noticeably dimmer than stock, so I put the stock bulbs back in.
What I *did* really like is replacing the stock amber front turn signal bulbs with the white LED bulbs -- just as bright in this application, and looks so much better (in my opinion). Now I just have to solve the fast-blink problem...
I'm not sure if you were referring to my post or not, but if you were, I didnt replace the side marker light, but the front turn signal (the yellow one inside the headlight cluster)
You do need the resistor to slow down the blink. Above post is correct, it fools the car into thinking a standard bulb is installed. Go to autoillumination.com. Not sure of the part number for the resistor but their LED bulb for a C6 is 3157 Light Tower II toward the bottom of the page.
They are special circuit multiple L.E.D.s. You can see the video. I also have videos I took with my iPhone. They really look great. The only problem is hyper flash. They come with load resistors, but I bought four 6hm/50watt separately. They are wired in parallel, to the outside wires. No hyper flash, but they do get hot, so far no problems. I will be in a Christmas Parade on Saturday, lots of braking and constant 4-way flashing. I will be checking for heat problems (after the parade) and I will post the results if anyone is interested. You can email me at phil@theretiredaviator.com if you have any more questions.
