2008 Corvette - Evaluation
Picked up my new Corvette last week and am happier with it than any other car I've ever owned. I traded in a 2006 Corvette and although it was a very nice car, it just wasn't equipped the way I wanted.
The following paragraphs contain some personal opinions about the new Corvette. You know what they say about opnions, "everybody has one"
The new Corvette is Victory Red with the 3LT package, MXO Transmission, Z51, NPP and Chrome Wheels.
3 LT Package - Never a question, for me the features more than justify the cost.
MXO Transmission - I've owned 9 sport cars in the past: 3 Porsches, 1 Mazda Twin Turbo and this is my 6th Corvette. All of the cars in the past had manual transmission. Drove the 2008 with the 6-spd paddle shift automatic and decided that was the way to go (getting lazy in my old age). The new automatic with the sports mode and paddle shifter is really nice. In fact, I believe if could take two identical cars (one manual and one automatic) to the track I would be faster in the automatic. I'm not saying the automatic is faster, but they are very good.
My 2006 had the base suspension. The Z51 package makes the car feels more like what a sports car should feel like. It is a firmer ride but certain not uncomfortable. The extra cooling and drilled drilled rotors and stiffer suspension make the Z51 package a bargain.
When I first started looking at the 2008 Corvettes I thought the NPP exhaust was just a gimmic. But after driving a NPP equipped Corvette, I have changed my mind. Is it the best sounding exhaust, probably not, but it sounds pretty nice and it is quite when you want it to be.
The steering on the new Corvette is greatly improved. In fact, the steering on my 2006 was one of the cars biggest disappointments.
The fit and finish on the new car is excellent. Alignment on the doors, hood and hatchback are nearly perfect. Interior looks a little nicer and the seats feel a little firmer (may be due to the newest). Soundproofing inside the car is greatly improved.
LS3 engine feels strong but can't make much of an evaluation since the car has it has less than 500 miles on it.
Was it worth the extra money to trade up? ABSOLUTELY!
Sorry for the long post but hope it provides some helpful information.

With everything said and on the M2W, the M2W is something you wanted when you first got a car and wanted to enhance it (I'm talking in the 60's) but that technology was not available. But now us old kids can have fun, and with the 08 it's lots of fun.
BTW, congrats on the new vette vegas2125!
