I came off a 409 RWHP cam/bolt-ons LS2 GTO....I can only imagine what this thing would do with the same mods..

Ok, here's my 3 cents. While in florida a couple months ago we rented a C6 from Hertz. It was an 08, auto with the paddle shifters and a vert.

The interior was a little nicer and the stereo was louder than my 06, but to be totally honest I would bet money that mine was faster, or at least felt alot faster. Could have alot to do with the non Z51, being a vert and the totally quiet stock exhaust. I drove it both in total auto mode and in the paddle shifting, and even when on the highway I downshifted to 3rd gear, the car had about a 1 second or so hesitation before it kicked in when I gave it gas. Nothing like my car (manual, Z51), when put I it in 3rd and just touch the gas it takes off. My car only has a vararam and exhaust, and we all know the exhaust is more for sound than anything.

I was a bit dissapointed. Could that be the torque management? Or is there a torque convertor from the factory? I know there is different gearing in the automatic than the Z51, but it is still a bigger engine.
It just re-affirmed that I will ALWAYS drive a true manual and never get automatic. To each their own, if you prefer auto, thats cool, but I am willing to bet my car would have beat that one in a race.

Don't get me wrong, the car was beautiful, and convertible is awesome in the Florida heat, and of course if it was a manual, I'm sure the LS3 would be faster than my poor LS2, but to all those contemplating an auto or manual, I would strongly advise to test drive both first. The choice will be clear for you I think.

You absolutely cannot compare an automatic to a manual. I test drove an 08 auto while I was waiting to go into finance, and it didn't impress me. I would guess that an auto LS2 would be even worse. My 08 manual "feels" a lot stronger. Go test drive an 08 manual.

I agree, you would have to compare A6 to A6 and M6 to M6. The dino's are show more RWHP on the M6. On my 08 C6 I add a Killer Bee Intake and a Tune and it really woke up the car. It dino'ed at over 400 RWHP with these slight mods.

My LS3 with the MZ6 pulls much harder than my LS2 with the MZ6 did-seemly far more then the additional 30/36hp would warrant. Nowadays I find my self alone when I pull away from traffic lights and see everyone trailing so far behind me

I agree. And I assume an M6 LS3 would and should feel stronger than an LS2 M6.

I was thinking of selling my car, and buying an American 08. With the same exact options and color, just so I could get a brand new car, with upgraded interior and engine, and with the stronger Canadian dollar , PLUS the wayyyyyy cheaper American prices i would have probably broke even, or spent or save $1000 or so, but decided against it. it would be a bit of a hassle, and now they don't allow US 08s into Canada anyways.

Anyways, I love my car so no biggie. And I can always wait for the LS4!

Sorry if i veered off the post a lil,
Enjoy your LS3s!! I certainly enjoy my LS2!

When it was time for me to buy a vette by luck it was when the LS3 came out. I finally hit 500 yesterday and took it pretty fast. I just love the 2nd gear, it keeps pulling then when it hits about 4K it goes to this euphoric harmony as it jumps/launches more. The power and gearing on this machine is simply amazing!

You'd have to wait for the LS5. The LS4 is actually the 5.3L, 303 HP motor in the front-drive Monte SS and Grand Prix GXP.

1/4 mile racing gives an advantage to the A6. Anything else the mn6 is the winner. Having both the LS2 and now the LS3, the LS3 BRINGS MORE TO THE DANCE. I really like my 06 ,a6 ls2, and it is far from being a pig. But the the Z51, LS3 mn6 is really moving up a notch.

Yeah, maybe on the C5 Forum.
