STis can be fast for cheap and are fairly fast stock. My buddies CAI and turbo back exhaust 06 beat me by about .1 in the 1/4 up here at Bandi. On the other hand he wasn't hot lapping like I was.

I pulled up along side an STi the other day and the young kid driving it didn't even try anything.

I was very surprised. I wouldn't have done anything anyway since it was on a public street.

Funny I had a similar dream. Stock STi's are fast like it or not, the one in my dream had a loud gate, not sure if stock. Given the power bar's rising these days at some point, old school as I am and favor rear wheel burnout, traction at some hp point becomes an issue.

Especially in the zone most of us want performance and actually drive in? As in <100 mph.

If we could get our 400+ horses to hook up in 1st and 2nd the dream has a totally different outcome.. most of these AWD guys wouldn't even try to knock us off..
However, that new Nissan is going to be a challenge.. luckily it wont be coming over here in big numbers for awhile..

From the motor trend article:

"Bleeding-edge tech such as plasma-deposited cylinder linings and one-piece turbo/exhaust manifolds help produce 480 horses and 443 pound-feet of torque."

I had that same nightmare yesterday. I was at a restaurant because it wasn't televised in Canada on cable or the box (except for this ridiculous $20/mnth NFL deal). SO we sat there from 430 til 730 watching Roethlisberger underachieve wondering WTF was wrong with this team, then we lost in OT and paid our $60 bar bill. Awful nightmare.

I didn't have to experience a nightmare Sunday. I'm a Charger fan. Reality sucks sometimes.

Mitsubishi Evo VIII and IX are almost just as fast from stand still as the WRX STi. Evo IX MR is the fastest of that ilk. All of these cars take mods very well and it's not uncommon to see them running around with 400-450whp. That can be another nightmare inducing thing to fall asleep thinking about.

MoronTrend also quoted "3.5 seconds to 60 mph (in 110-degree weather, no less), 11.7 seconds to the quarter mile at a trap speed of 149.1"
I will wait for some less biased numbers

I'm thinking the same thing.. Shooting from the hip here.. I'm sure the car MotorTrash tested is juiced and the car that reaches the states will true up between Z06 and C6 coupe performance.. add that to maybe one per dealer and you might see one a month on the streets and by the time you see them daily the C7 will be out and kicking its tail.. I'm more worried about that Subaru in my dream..

actually they are. first a little history, i owned a 03 Z06 until about 3 weeks ago sold it and now have a 08 coupe on order TPW 12-03-07 i purchased a 06 Subaru Legacy LGT for my daily driver in Nov 05 nice car AWD 250 hp 5 spd w/all the options long story short i got addicted to the turbo and started minor mods each time i liked it more so the mods continued bigger turbo, full exhaust, WI (Snow Performance), full suspension (brakes, sways, Bilsteins, braces) 325 whp/345 wtq the car is a beast, cars on the forum with similar mods are running mid 12's the STI's are even quicker. i am also a moderator on www.legacygt.com and some of the young boys have even went further with the mods than me check it out sometime. if you really want to see whats going on go to www.nasioc.com thats where the 500 whp STI's hang out. i love my Subie it's a great car and what people don't think about is it doesn't matter what kind of car it is you pull along side of, it's how much horsepower you're packing. you can also go to www.youtube.com and see what the little turbo's will do. feel the powa. bosco

btw can't wait for the 08

Agreed. Furthermore, I thought this GTR was AWD. Not exactly compareable to a Z06 based on a RWD v. AWD drivetrain.

Not exactly comparable but if the numbers they are quoting are true it might just knock out or threaten to anyways the place of performance value the Z06 has now.

Don't get me wrong I think the GT-R is fugly and will never own one short of winning powerball and I start collecting great cars. But if the numbers are right and only time will tell they are something to at least keep an eye out for.

The sad thing is.. your buddy can still play when the white stuff starts falling and you have to leave the vette in the garage..

I might have found me a new toy.. never thought about it.. but an AWD rocket for under 20k might be my winter entertainment..
