hey does anyone have problems with tinting the back window. im told by tintworld that the top back will not look right because of the big black dots on it. they say it will bubble up
just had one done last week and the tint shop put vinyl over that area and it looks great and you can't tell a thing. This is the first I have ever heard of this but it works.
Someone posted a couple months or more ago about that issue and how he dealt with it. It looked great and you couldn't tell, at least in pics, that anything unusual was done. I can't remember who it was and I can't find the thread with a quick search. I think bubblehead's procedure may be the right course but I just don't remember for sure. I guess the bottom line is, it is doable by a tinter who knows what he is doing. Try someone else, maybe someone will come by this thread and offer a suggestion for a good tinter. Good luck.
Mine goes in tomorrow for a tint job. Asked him what he recommends for the dots on the rear hatch....said he's had no complaints with his approach which is to let the material dry out a little before mating it to the glass where the dots are. I'll know better what he means when it's done and whether to offer a
For those that use the vinyl to cover the dots. Doesn't that really restrict visibility out the back?

The guy who did my car tints for Dallas Lamborghini. He came highly recommended from other forum members and traveled to my house to do the job. The vinyl is not visible when looking through the rearview. It blends in nicely with 20% tint. The link above provides a great explanation. If you are in the DFW area send me a PM and I will give you his contact info.
the same guy did mine recently and i'm very pleased. he cuts a piece of black vinyl and that goes from the top of the window to the first element of the rear window heater. he applies it the same way tint goes on. let it sit in the sun and go back and press it down in any of the places that need it. that's it. it's as close to perfect as can be done imo.
My tinter painted over my dots in a beautiful arch to match the window contour. If you didn't know you would swear it came that way from the factory. This guy is no rookie either, having tinted windows for the last eighteen years and has done all our family vehicles for the last 10.He is the only person I would trust to tint my ride.

Hard to believe this is still being debated. Any good tinter can tint over the dots. You must let it dry and take it back a few days later when they use something like a credit card to rework the dot area. It shouldn't be a problem for anybody that has done other C6's as they have had three years experience.
my tinter is telling me that its really hard to do the back window without creasing the tint while trying to put it in and if he tries again and it creases he is doing it in two pieces? should i refuse and ask for a refund, my back window looks like crap now

My dealership has one specific tint shop do all their work...they're familiar with Corvette's. The back glass was done in one piece and no vinyl was used. To be honest, there's about a 1" x 8" strip along the top edge of the dot matrix that isn't totally perfect....you really have to look hard to notice the imperfection. I considered telling the guy to redo it but it's so trivial I let it go. It doesn't detract from the appearance of the car.
I had a guy with a great reputation here do it, and I asked him beforehand about he rear window and the dots. he said he could get 90% out. I was a little iffy about the 90% remark, but i bet not 10% are adhered. I will be bringing it back to speak with him and get it resolved.
