I was hit from behind today no real damage ust just scrapes I would say less then 1,000. I called his insurance company Allstate. My ? is do I take it to the dealership or the body shop that I trust? As for carfax reports how does that work. Does the dealriship report it and a body shop doesnt?
Thanks

Mon. morning call your insurance agent. They'll tell you everything and anything to do.
Asking a forum that knows nothing about your situatiion is like talking to the wall. This will be the last good advice you will read in this thread.
First off . ..glad you're OK . . . but I'd respectfully suggest you take the car to a competent body shop specializing in Corvettes to have everything inspected before accepting a settlement on minor surface abrasions.
I don't think there's a down side to contacting the insurance company - - -theirs or yours - - just in case there's undiscovered damage. I'd also suggest not signing off on a release for a week or two to insure both you and the car are in good shape.
TI called his insurance and going tues. I know this body shop does great work as I used them for 95 twin turbo rx7 and they do work on high $ cars. As for the carfax its the insurance company that reports it?

Carfax gets its information from multiple sources, including state DMVs, repair estimatics suppliers, and insurers. A minor hit like you describe here will probably end up in their database, but it's by no means certain.
After things are all done, you'd be wise to keep a copy of the repair estimate and insurance check. These will allow you to prove to a new insurer that the accident was not your fault and will also help you show a prospective buyer that the damage was not serious.
Thats what I am scared of. This might sound crazy but I made my mind up in 36months moving up to a Z06 or what it will be. Here is what i was thinking....
As I go to trade this car in they will give me less although I keep my car perfect i will get less now because of some 90 year old who shouldnt be driving thanks State of Florida lol
In the end I don't think you have anything to worry about....it sounds like a very minor accident and even if it does show up on carfax it shouldn't be a problem....just be up front when you sell the car if you do it privately....tell the dealer nothing!
I had curb damage (bonehead move) and had it fixed by a dealer a few months before it was traded in.....not usre what the carfax said but the dealer never asked and I didn't tell.....
Definitely report!! Otherwise you could be left holding the bag.
And please update with final estimate ... I'll be surprised if it's not over $1000; paint + labor + environmental typically comes in at $750 ... without any parts!!

Call YOUR insurance agent. Don't talk to Allstate. You paid your insurance agent to handle this stuff and make things right with you. The other guy pays Allstate to make things right for himself. Allstate is going to want to spend as little as possible. Your insurance company is going to want it fixed right so they don't have to pay for problems down the road.
Don't do this yourself. Let your insurance company handle it. That's what you've been paying them for.
I didnt want my company to know.If I call them does that go against me? I have a great driving record and just switch to AIG with a big discount comming from Geico plus 30 year old unmarried male blk vette made 2 payments to new company and now a claim lol....? I do want whats best for me as I am lucky this is the first time this has every happend.

I'd keep your insurance company out of it if at all possible. Have the car repaired at the shop of your choice and remember his insurance company should provide you with 'like' transportation while your car is being repaired. I know nothing about Carfax. I'm sorry about the damage and glad no one was injured. Good luck.

Depends on where you live. In some states (California, for example) your insurer cannot raise your rates or take other negative action for an accident unless you were primarily at fault. (California law also exempts at-fault accidents that result in less than $750 in damage.)
