Default scratch on tinted window?

I got my tint done last week. I put the windows up and down a few times without any issue but this time when i put them back up my little brother noticed a scratch on the tint, you can tell its from the window going up or down as its perfectly straight. Has anyone else had this problem? Will GM pay to have my window retinted?

Sorry to hear, not sure what could've caused that. I doubt GM will pay to repair an aftermarket modification.

i know on c5s you could adjust the window in and out and if it was too far in it would do this but it would do it right away not a few days later.

I'm sorry for the scratch but you had the additional film tint put on your windows....why would GM pay to repair that? It's not any defect GM is responsible for. In fact, I doubt this would be anything your window tinter would be responsible for.

I assume you waited a sufficient time after the tint was applied before you lowered and raised the windows. I think the guy that tinted my windows said to wait at least 2 days to allow the film to 'setup' properly.

If you have lowered and raised the tinted window previously without a problem, check for any visible foreign objects that could have caused he scratch. Make sure the window is operating correctly before you have the window redone. Good luck!

Yeah i think I may put a piece of tape over the spot and see if it makes the mark agian.

I know plenty of c6s with tint, i dont think the guy used some special thick film, thats why i am wondering if anyone else has had this problem

Check for some debris on your cat whisker/felt. Your tint shop should help you with the replacement. Most good shops will do a complimentary replacement one time for an issue like that and then tell you "yur on yur own" after that.

I have the same scratch on both driver and passenger side window tint. It is from top to bottom towards the front of the window. I can see it from inside, but you can't tell from outside the car. The tint was already done when I bought the car. The scratches were there as well, but I have just been to busy driving the car to fix the windows yet. I will figure out what is catching the tint when I pull the inside door panels off to replace the 3.5" Bose speakers that suck

I have scratches right in the middle on the driver and passenger side, top to bottom. There are two, about 4" apart. I have pulled the door panels and inner seal and can't find what's causing it. Plexus or DP Plexal helps hide it. It is not visible from the outside, it can only be seen from the inside.

My passenger side window tint got scratched after a week of not lowering or raising the windows. I waited longer than the tint guy said to wait. BUT, the scratch did appear. Tint guy said probably a piece of debris of unknown origin did it. He wiped out that area and re-did that window for free. No issues since. He said if it happens again to bring it in and he's pull off the door panel to see if there was something, but so far no more problem. Good installer, eh?

No way GM is going to pay for something you had done. Your best option is to go back to where you had the windows tinted and see if they will give you a discount on redoing the window.
