Default C6 Storage Question

I have to store my 2008 C6 Corvette for approximately 11 weeks. My question is regarding the battery and my best option. If I have the priority start ( I do not have presently) installed is that sufficient protection to protect the battery. Or is a better solution to purchase a battery tender. I would prefer not to disconnect the battery and then deal with some memory losses. Thanks!

Me personally I'd go with a battery tender.

Based on my 2-day old experience, go with a battery tender, or disconnect your battery. The only things I think you have to do if you do the latter is: nav, windows and radio pre-sets.

Thanks to a very good friend, I now have my very first-ever, battery tender. There is, to my way of thinking, something quite wrong with being required to own a battery tender. To say it's "retro" is an understatement.

Good luck with the car.

Battery tenders are a cheap and easy way to go compared to ever having to suffer the dreaded DBS.............but I agree that it does seem weird that we have to do this for our cars.

I've never had a battery go dead from a vehicle just sitting for 11 weeks, whether is was a cheap battery or an Optima. Is the battery in the Vette really that pathetic?

I even use a "jr" model of the Battery Tender and it works very well.

My friends, if I'm lyin', I'm flyin'.

Try 27 days of non-use, and completely flat battery. Couldn't even open the door.

Just happened on Thursday, this past week. Indoor, garaged, semi-heated, not cold outside yet, either.

I hear ya' loud and clear when you say, never had it happen before with any car. Me, too.

Try it. If it doesn't happen, email me. Please.

Hmmm, something suspicious here. The batteries in my Porsches always lasted until 5 minutes after the warranty expired.

Tell me, do you often ask your father if you can borrow his Porsche?

No, but after he saw my 2008 JSB he wanted to sell his porsche and buy a Vette. My Mom wouldn't let him do it.

Very well said.

My wife and daughter were also disappointed after selling my Porsches and buying a Corvette. What is it with some - emphasis on "some" - women and Corvettes? No flaming here, please. I said "SOME"

When my wife and I were dating (I guess people were "dating" back in 1968) she was perfectly content with my MGB. She even suffered through my occasional foray into Italian cars. Even though she rarely drove them, the Porsches seemed to be perfectly fine. But Corvettes? Oh, Nooooooo. Might as well start rolling up my smokes in the sleeves of my T-shirt and try to assume a James Dean sort of sullen look.

Of course, once on the road in the new C6 down the Pacific Coast Highway in the newly acquired Corvette, all criticism seemed to disappear. Well, at least soften a bit.

I still love her.

And I'll take that to mean, the wife first, AND the Corvette....

Default Battery Tender

Thanks for all the replies I will go with the Battery Tender. As one owner noted here in Rochester the temperature heads down towards zero in the Winter and we do average about 100 inches of snow for the season. Sitting in a cold garage I would not want to risk the battery holding up in the aforementioned condiitions for 11 weeks.

Yes, you're probably right, but can I get back to you on that question?

Battery Tender for your car's battery.

Aricept for your memory losses.

Hit the National Corvette Museum website/store - they have a great little battery tender and some of the cost goes to supporting the NCM.

I know I could drive my vette year round but, all the sand and salt in WI during winter does a real number on autos.

Therefore, I use a battery tender and a bubble.
