Here is my problem, when the engine is shut off the rearview mirror reading lights stay on for ~10 minutes until the battery saver kicks in and shuts them off. pushing the on/off switch does not turn them off and the ignition switch stays either green or the red bottom light also. It just started doing this and I can't find anything in the manual about it. the fob is removed and the car is locked......any ideas This is an 08 C6. twilight delay set to zero
Push & release the dash light dimmer switch at the lower left corner of the dash. Somehow, you have hit that without knowing it. It will turn on the map lights. Be sure the map light buttons are pushed IN to turn them off. This comes up about 2-3 times a month here.

You can also turn the courtesy lamps on and off
by pressing the instrument panel brightness ****.

thanks Jim, I had already read that in the manual and tried it, made no difference

Is it actually 10 minutes or are you estimating? I know in my car the exit lighting will stay on for about 1 full minute when I exit the vehicle and then fade to off. I can't find any settings that would cause what you are seeing. As Jim noted the most common event that will have these lights behave this way is the dash dimmer switch being pressed inadvertantly. Did you not have any lights previously when you opened the door? Have you recently switched to the other fob by any chance?

I actually timed it yesterday evening because I wanted to make sure they did go off at 10 minutes to save the battery. I had tried the procedure that Jim listed and it did not turn off the lights and yet that seemed to be the correct procedure so with Jim pointing out that that had to be the solution to the problem I went out and did the routine shutdown again and when both reading lights turned on I pushed the dimmer switch and this time they shut off normally. I can only guess that I didn't fully depress the dimmer the first time I tried the procedure. well at least I learned one more thing about my car
