Default C6 Cooling problems

Has anyone experienced overheating trouble with their base C6's - in any road conditions - mountains, desert, Fl, etc? Thanks, "C4 veteran"

The vette, like all other new cars, are validated in desert conditions.

You could ask the same question on any system of any car and find someone that has had a problem with it.

What are you getting at?

Never overheated, although the " normal operating temps" seem to be quite high(220 to 265 degrees). That was before I installed a dual core radiator(oil cooler). Also made the car a 7.5 quart car. Also installed a Meziere electric water pump and low temp thermostat(175 degree). Hard to get it above 200 degrees. Oil and water temp are usually within 10 to 15 degrees of each other.

My '06 A6 vert is only driven on warm - hot, sunny days and it's never had any overheating problems.

My base car has been extensively tracked for 20+ minutes straight in 90+ degree heat and although the oil temps get high, the engine has never overheated.

I live in Tucson, Arizona and suffice it to say it gets hot! I've never experienced any problems with the C6 over-heating. On the street at 110 degrees with the a/c cranked or even running on the track in 90+ degrees...certainly running temperatures increase accordingly but never a problem.

thats one of the reasons I got a Z51 car is for the coolers for adverse temperatures, sure the extra tenth or two in the 1/4 mile is nice and I like better suspension and rotors but the extra coolers were part of my decision.

I recently drove down to California and kept getting a "check coolent level" message. During that ten days I added about 2 quarts of water. The temperature never went up that I noticed but had to replace a leaking water pump when I got back. 2007 C6 with 27000km..See Ya..GKB

Mine's not a base, but water temp has never been an issue weather it's cruising around when it's 120 out, or doing trackdays when it's 104. You shouldn't have any problems with that unless you've added FI.

Someone correct me if I`m wrong. But in 05-07 the Z51 option does provide a transmission cooler for both the A4 and the MN6,but does not provide an oil cooler(if it did the oil capacity would be more than 5.5 quarts). For 2008 the Z51 option provides both oil and tranny coolers.

I think you're wrong. My '07 manual specifically states that with Z51 the oil capacity is 6 quarts; my '05 didn't.
