How long have you had it, and do you have any pics of it? Any chance you can see of the lever being flipped accidentally by road debris or the like?
I installed it after the first oil change I did. (The car's an '06.)
It would be essentially impossible to flip the small, spring loaded, lift and rotate lever with road debris.
However, the valve does present a bigger target for debris than a plug. It's higher than the frame member and protected by it, so I'd say the odds of it being struck and snapped off are very slim.

Well, if that's the outlet of the fumoto valve pointed upward, I can't see your oil level getting any lower than the top of that outlet...looks like to me you're leaving at least a quart in the bottom of the pan. Or...maybe I just don't know how a fumoto valve works, and it drains out the bottom of the valve.

The oil comes out of the hole facing the camera. I have had several Fumoto valves on other cars, and they work well -- no road debris or accendential opening, and thye are very convenient. I wouldn't use it on the Corvette though. I value the magnetic plug, and I think it is important to find those needles from the rocker arms when they come out.

Have you actually seen metal fragments come out with the magnetic plug? I am thinking of getting one and was wondering if was a gimmick. Thanks!
Did the reverse. Held the ratchet with the plug in the socket at a slight upward arc until I reached the oil pan. Like most mechanical operations, it then required a little finesse.

Not me -- only 477 miles on the car, so no oil change yet, however I have seen pictures on the site. The first change usually results in some "fuz" (for want of a better term) on the magnet(s). After that it is just to look for the needles.

Ahhhh!...of course; I should have known that. I agree with you...I don't like the idea that something could fail and cause my oil to drain out.
I just changed my oil last week. I position the car so that is half on the street and half in my driveway. There is a low spot between the street and my driveway. It gives me just enough room to get under the car to do the oil change. I even put a torpedo level on the bottom to make sure it's level to get all the oil out.
I learned this trick a while back from this forum.
I just drive up on my Race Ramps. Why do all that reaching and stretching?
Chances are that when you drain the oil you're going to change the filter too. This way I get it all done in one shot.
Just stand underneath the car.......it's so simple!
Beat me to it! Did mine this way this morning. No gorilla arms required

I had the typical ball of fuzz on mine at 1100 miles -- no fragments. I don't know about other years, but I was pleased to find my '08 had a magnetic plug from the factory. humvet, are you sure yours doesn't have a magnet already?
