Go to a glass shop that has been there for a long time and ask for the best most experienced installer to do the job. A dealer won't do it, they will just sublet it to a glass shop.
This is exactly the route to take. I'd look for a locally owned glass shop and ask for an experienced old timer to do the job. That way you have a chance of getting someone that takes pride in their work and getting it done properly. Very tough things to find nowadays.
We all will have to do it eventually, probably multiple times.
The glass on these cars is prone to damage. I know some say it is just because the car is so low, but I dont but that, My C4 never had such a problem so quickly.
A year and half of regular driving and there are little pits and nicks all over it.
Is the windshield on a 3LT Corvette different than the windsheild on other Corvettes? I'm wondering if the glass was designed for the HUD or if any kind of glass works.

On HUD equipped cars there is a spot about the size of a sheet of paper between the layers of glass that has slightly different reflective properties.
But some people have added the HUD afterwards and reported that it still works reasonably well on a stock windshield. Maybe a bit less so in direct sunlight IIRC.
Thanks to all of you for your opinions and tips in selecting a glass company to replace my windshield. I had the windshield installed today by the All Star Glass company. The installation was painless and handled with utmost care and professionalism. The people are nice to deal with also. So I would recommend them to any of my Forum brothers who find themselves with the same need in the future.
