Default Odor When First Started

I have an 08 coupe with about 4K miles.

When I first start the car and get the A/C running I get a nasty odor coming out the vents. Don't know how to describe it ... "mildewy" or "musty".

Has anyone ever experienced this before? Can anything be done to get rid of this? Thanks.

Very common problem with our cars. Take some Lysol or other disinfecting spray that you can stand the smell of....open the hood and while the car is running and the AC is on, spray it in the vents at the back of the engine compartment. Go easy and spray no more that you need. Let the car run for several minutes before getting back in...unless you REALLY like the smell of what you sprayed into the vents.
The C5 used to have soft rubber bladders that needed to be emptied next to the firewall.......maybe someone here could enlighten us both if the C6 has those too. If so, they may need to be cleaned out (squeezed) to make sure your system is draining properly.

I've also heard that turning the A/C off for a minute before you shutdown helps.

You are getting the odor of the condensation in your vents. I would use something like Lysol which will help rid the vents of bacteria aka mold and mildew for smell I like to use Febreeze.

Look for a urine soaked blanket somewhere near the hood or an old steak underneath the seat.

Default Ah Yes!!

Wife had problem with C5 and C6. They just installed a blower on the AC system. Covered under warrany.

If they do it don't be surprised whne you go out into the garage and you hear a fan blowing. The ac is drying out the system.

Good Luck

Two of the funniest threads I've ever read on this forum.

I can't believe they're not closed, surprised nobody has revived them.
