Do people actually respect other people's property!!!!!! I do drive my corvette into work every now and then and park it in a spot to avoid getting any door dings etc.... I go to check on it and find someone has scrapped the front bumper and it seems they were trying to backup and hit my car. Very frustrating when you work hard to enjoy a nice car like the corvette. I respect everyone's property why can't people respect mine Just venting.....

Reason: removed "YOU"
I feel your pain... Same here minus the scratch, however you might want to retract your statement on this forum "YOU" people.. because were all VETTE fanatics here with great respect for other's property
Sorry to hear that. Theres a lot of resentment around certain places. It is frustrating but remember there are also cool people who respect others stuff.
To others (present company excluded of course) it's just a car and it's usually one or a few things:
1.) They don't have a nice car so why should they care about those who do?
2.) They're jealous and can care less about the nice things other have.
3.) They're just plain mean spirited and don't give a **** about anything or anyone other than themselves.
Unfortunately it's becoming the norm in this day and age, but I hope to think there are still decent people left in this world.
no video but I do agree with sabooher "To others (present company excluded of course) it's just a car and it's usually one or a few things:

Yep. 78.58739 % of all humans are a**holes, stupid, ignorant, a**holes.
I would wager the percentage is higher than that!!
To most, a car is just transportation from point A to B. Their vehicles are truly clean just once -- the day they're driven home from the dealership. A scrape or ding is no big deal -- just so they can get to Starbucks, Costco or to their monthly Botox touch-up.
Many simply do not care about the property of others. They care about getting caught damaging your car, but do not care about the damage itself -- or you.
My wife's 2005 DD (not a Vette) has had over $2,500 of parking lot hit and run damage in 2.5 years. I'm sure more is to come.
Kinda reminds me of the old axiom: All matter is damaged in direction proportion of its value.
I feel your pain. I recently went to shop for a new couch and the entire parking lot was empty because it was raining but I still park little to the side. I come out after couple of miute and this stupid fat pig os a women parked her P.O.S. SUV right next to my car. There was more than 60 parking spaces and she had to park right next to me. Lucky there was no damage that I could see.
I drive mine to work everyday, park in a safe as place as possible, and have still been backed into twice.
I've come to the conclusion that it just happens. I think the car is so low, that some people literally don't see it when backing out in their monster SUV's. I know I got hit once by something with a hitch, cause it left a nice impression of it on the front facia.

I really agree on this that those that are respectful are the minority and a dying breed of human beings. I take my DD which is a Porsche 951 which I don't mind as the stalls are very generous and my security officers makes sure everyone parks within their stalls, well one day after work I return to my car to see a nice ding on the driver side door molding and it is in perfect alignment with the beat up Toyota in the next stall which parked in it's own stall but hugging the line near my car. I look in the back seat and there is a baby seat. Now common sense would have told the driver to move over to the driver side to give more room on the right side to take the baby out. But common sense and respect are out the window as you can see the door was opened and flung into my door.
What is even worst is that these people don't think they did or are doing anything wrong.
Most people do respect other's property, but so damn many of them can't drive, especially backing up in parking lot. No matter how carefull we are, someone's gonna get us. That's life I guess. Anyway for the Holidays.
Unfortunately, there have been dozen's of the same type threads started.
It's really sad that folks just don't care anymore. It's not just about the lack of respecting other's property, but it seems the general public's attitude has gone to hell in a hand basket.
I'm sorry to hear 'bout the damage on your car. Hopefully it can be fixed up for little cost.

Once I parked my Vette like an ***hole next to the front door of a business I had to run into and a guy backed into it. If I hadn't been such an elitist *****, it probably would never have happened.

My thinking is that I have to take ownership and park my car where it will not get damaged. I always park where I think no one else will ever park. I know, sometimes this is very difficult to do.
