Parking can be a real bear, I always try to park away from everybody else and as far as possible from the entrance. I park on a parking deck and you never know, no matter how careful you park or where you park it seems that sometimes people just aim at the car

It's not always a matter of respect...sometimes accidents just happen. There are some people, however, that truly don't exhibit the level of care (when opening their car doors) that you or I might. Then, it becomes a respect issue.

I try to park in less traveled areas myself but just because you or I do, it doesn't mean that someone else can't park right next to you or I. Driving a Vette doesn't convey any special status...we aren't more important than someone driving a 10 year Civic (which may be as valuable to its owner as our Vette's are to us).

I empathize with you though, a year or so ago, someone evidently grazed my car as I found white paint scraped on the front corner....the person may not even have known contact was made.

I appreciate your frustration and I'm sorry for the damage to your car. I hope it buffs out cleanly.

I would say 50% of the people don't care....
The other 50% maliciously try and cause harm...

I have witnessed people (Young Adults) drive up and open there doors forcefully into another car (as in bang bang) and then drive away...
(not my car)
I got there licence plate number wrote the driver and note and left it on their windshield with what I saw happen and my phone number... never heard from them...

I know you are going to have people say that it is just a car.... but dam-it it's my car!

It really is a shame that people do not respect the property of others. I hate parking any of my cars in a lot, especially my Vette. I wish there was some answer for you but many of us have had the same misfortune of ignorant people with no respect for others.

I hear ya, last night I went to Home Depot, I parked at the very end of the lot, there were probably 25 spaces closer, I come out and some beater is parked over the line up next to me, no other cars around, I think people do it just to **** you off.

Back in the day we all drove our muscle cars to work, bars etc. and no one had any damage and we never worried. These days, I don't know how many people I know that have had their cars hit, keyed or some other act of senselessness. It is the reason I won't take my car anywhere where it will be parked out of my sight. It's just the way it is for me. It's not the mileage I worry about, it's the low life scum that seems impossible to escape these days.

it is not just parking a vette it is also driving it how many people cut you off or pull out in front of you and stop at a red light 2 inches from your back end

Most people just SUCK!
These are the same people, that when the day comes that they ever get something nice, would probably kill someone for scratching their baby.

These days, I take my '04 coupe out for long cruises only. I stay out of parking lot situations.

Default Cretins love Vettes - it's a parking magnet

Park your car almost anywhere and a cretin will park as close as he/she can right next to you. I think they just want to park next to a shiny new sportscar. That way it will enhance the value and status of their car/van/truck. That's all I can figure anyway. Even if you park way out there in left field, someone is sure to follow. And God help you if they have a shopping cart! They just leave it there...right adjacent to you or in front of you or where ever. Taking those extra 12 steps to put it in the cart rack is just too much (thought or exercise) for them - someone else will do it is their philosophy. Thoughtless Me-first idiots...and that's on one of their good days. Walmart's parking lots are the best example of this behavior. Just my 2 cents...

Drivers in pickups especially can't see the low stance of a vette behind 'em. Don't ever park behind a truck.

"Hate" is a strong word. But that's how I feel when people negligently and without care, create door dings.

I can maintain my equanimity quite well, until I see the above take place.

Then I'm not so nice.

Red Cell.

Sucks dude. I know how you feel.

I purposely won't take my fiance out on friday nights in my vette unless we just drive to the beach and come back home.

When we go out to eat dinner or do shopping we go in her murano so there is no worry or door dings..lol.

one saturday night we went to eat at chili's, and I litterally parked like 2 miles away from the restaurant and we had to hike to get there because I wanted to park in no mans land so no one would park next to my vette. haha.

then there have been situations where I have parked in no mans land in an empty parking lot..I come out of the store and LOOK. not 1 BUT 2 big suvs parked right next to me side by side on the right and left...I was like you GOTTA BE F'N kidding me. Luckily none of them door dinged me.
Im one of the very lucky ones left that has owned a 2007 vette for over a year and no scratches or dings or anything. Im keeping my fingers crossed because I know one day it WILL happen just hopefully not soon.

but always remember ...No matter what you do...you never win. lol.
someone is probably gonna get me one of these days.
