Default Weird Problem Hits Again!!!

For the last year or so, off and on, I have had a very perplexing problem with my 2005 vert. The headlights turn on by themselves while the car is sitting in the garage. I thought I had the problem solved because I had not had this happen for 6 months or longer. The first 2 times it happened, I took the car to the dealer I bought the car from. They are about 100 miles from my house and by the time I got the car to the shop, they were working properly. The last time it happened it took the car to a dealer 11 miles from where I live and they kept the car for about 3-4 days and said they thought everything was fine. They said they thought the problem was caused by an aftermarket stereo which I had professionally installed about 2 years ago. The dealer said the mechanic that "fixed" my car had got to looking under the passenger side foot well and had wiggled one of the wires coming from the stereo going to an original wire in the car which, I guess furnishes the stereo with power. He said that caused the headlights to go off and stay off.

Well I tried the same thing and I can not get the headlights to go off. I am planning to take the car back to the dealer that found the wire and see if they can get it to shut the lights off. Does any of this make sense to any of you guys? I know the electronics in the car is very sophisticated and any little thing can cause things to go haywire. Since it was professionally installed though, I would think the installer did not do a botch job. Plus, it worked fine for over a year after the stereo was installed before I had this problem. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If the dealership, in fact, originally and correctly identified the problem as being associated with the "professionally" installed after-market stereo, I would bet therein the problem lies.

It's safe to say not all professional stereo installer's know the electrical intricacies of every car....even a pro can make a mistake.

This kinda sounds like the person that has their cars stereo turning on all by itself while it was sitting in the garage.

Here is the link to that thread:

I dont think this has been solved either.
