I am not sure if this is the right forum for this, and I apologize ahead of time for my ignorance of cars ...
I was looking at my exahust tips today, and I noticed that the tips with the butterfly valves were black and greasy. The other two tips were perfectly fine. I have been running my 08 with the fuse pulled for about two months, and did not notice this until this week. Anyone else notice this? Any problems with pulling the fuse?
Not a problem. When you run with the fuse pulled all the exhaust gas goes out the tip's with the butterfly since it is the path of least resistance. If you had them closed, the other tips would get just as dirty, although probably not as fast since some of the carbon would deposit in the muffler itself.

All the exhaust is going out the one pipe its carbon soot and oil.Get a mild to wild switch switch it off every once in a while.
How abrasive is the polish used in this kit? Does it leave much in the way of swirl marks? I can't tell form the pics I've seen posted.

Most of the metal polishes used today are non abrasive. The only one I know of that contains an abrasive is Brasso... Even if it did, it wouldn't leave swirl marks.....thats the point of a metal polish.

I use the switch to 'tone it down' sometimes and the two sides look about the same. I like to be able to kill the sound so I can listen to music & talk to a passenger. When I'm alone I mostly leave the system open.

Hi, I am Ed Just like polishing out a great paint job I have assembled the correct level of abrasives. The first is coarse, it will remove most anything, then we go to a finer compound and finish with the king of metal polishes simichrome. Your 100% correct that is why the off the shelf polishes don't get these results.
