A good dealer will do it before you pick it up.

My Corvette and Acura were both waxed when I picked them up. My Jeep was dirty, no more Jeeps in my garage.

Sorry to contradict but the fact is the paint leaves the factory about 85% cured. It is a good idea to wait 30 days before any wax or sealant is put on it.

Before the question is asked, the reason the manual doesn't state this is because the clear coat on the Corvette does not require wax or polish to look good or stay protected. You should wait and let it fully cure. The car will usually have 10 to 14 days of curing when it arrives at the dealership.

Congratulations on your new Vette! One of the first things I plan to do to my Corvette when I get it home from Bowling Green, is to get a good coat of wax on it.

Congratulations on the new car. To answer your question, it depends: how long are you gonna keep it? If a while, wait awhile.

What's the rush? It's even winter or cooler where you are; wait until spring. Or a month or so....

Why? Who wouldn't want the lowest paid lot boy with the dirty sponge detailing and prepping their car?

I stand corrected at least on vettes. I know that with other cars the paint is fully cured when leaving the factory so you can wax immediately. Most times you won't see those cars within 30 days in any event.

I don't know if the panels on a vette are subjected to any heat processing or baking when being painted at the factory? Help me out here Paul since you've been there! This was taken from meguiars website... but a vette may well be different as Paul suggests...

http://www.meguiars.com/faq/index.cf...ection=_54#_54

A new car with a factory paint job can be waxed the moment it is rolled out of the manufacturing plant. Cars that have factory paint jobs are cured at much higher temperatures, sometimes as high as 300 degrees in special baking ovens. At a factory level, the car goes through the painting and baking process without any of the rubber, plastic, and cloth components installed. This is why they can expose the car and it's fresh paint to such high temperatures. These high temperatures and special paints used at the factory level insures the paint is fully cured by the time the car is completely assembled.
