I got to take off our Targa Top for the first time yesterday. It was a sunny 65 degree day in January. In Arkansas we occassionally have a warm day in January. It may be 20 degrees tomorrow but it was perfect convertible weather Sunday.
I have never had a Targa top before. It stows easily in the trunk and we still have the fastback lines of the coupe with the top off. I guess we have to give Porsche credit for the concept, it is a great idea. I sure wouldn't pay the premium for a convertible with the Targa available on the coupe.
I'm worse, it was in 1962 that Porsche introduced it for the 911 to aid race drivers to enter/exit the car. The Targa comes from the Targa Florio race where the car was raced. Porsche itself took the idea from the 1961 Triumph TR4 "surrey" roof.
Good for you...enjoy your removable roof as often as possible. It may not quite equal the open-air feel of a vert but considering all the other benefits of owning a coupe, the 'targa' top is great! I love driving without the roof panel.

It's warm enough for it today, though.
I hope there were some other days you removed the top in between.

There's always a trade-off. I love year-round driving in Tucson but in the heat of the summer you're kind of limited to early morning or after sunset...it's hot! I do feel for those having to mothball their Vette's for months on end though...that would be rough.

"targa" is Porsche terminology.
Removable roof panel is what Corvette calls 'em.

The term "targa top" evolved into common usage long ago.
