Rear gears or FI?
Would it be better for me to invest in rear gears on the car instead of FI since I am getting the Z51 package? My car is going to be a manual so it will already have the 3.42's in the rear. I was thinking going with 3.90's. How much will the fuel mileage be compromised? If its a minimal amount then I can live with that. My car isnt going to be a daily driver but I still would like to know these things. I figure changing gears is like adding horsepower, and besides it will be a hell of alot cheaper than going FI. Naturally as you see I am going with a full exhaust system, so if I do go with the gears my other mods will be a CAI, mass air flow sensor and possibly a better intake manifold to compliment my full exhaust system. I figure those mods along with gears will make the car pull rather nicely.
BTW I dont plan on tracking the car, nor road racing. I just want the car to perform alot better than stock. I want to be extra confident at a light knowing I have a very fast car. Secondly I want people to get in it saying "wow this thing is crazy"!

I actually did mean to post this in the tech section, but I must have not realized I hit the "start new thread" link while I was still in the general section. Thanks again!
If there's any similarity between what I did and going with FI I suggest you consider going with larger wheels and tires (possibly non-runflats). I still prefer the 'keep-on truckin' security runflats provide for street driving but there's no question non-runflats are better on the track...or for those traffic light encounters in your case.
Even with Z06 rubber on my car I'm traction-challenged but the larger wheels and tires made a considerable improvement.Lastly, as you're looking for 'wow factor' IMO those 4.10 gears aren't going to impress anyone getting into your car. You'll impress more people with a supercharger...more so when you wind it out but there's no question a SC makes an impression where gearing doesn't.
Good luck whichever way you decide to go!
I thought about the tires but then we have the "sticking out of the side" issue, and to take care of that I will have to go with the widebody kit, now we are running into more money!
Its great to have a site like this! Where other moddies can bang heads together and make it easier to decide what mods to go with.
I will still look into all of the possibilities.

2.97 (1st gear-Z51) x 3.42= 10.16. 10.16/2.66(1st gear for standard transmission) = 3.82.
I chose to go with FI.

When you get bored with that power level, and your wallet has recovered, you can add headers and/or gears.

I'll be reading some of the replys as well...
