So I was able to pick up my 2008 Black/Ebony 3LT, NPP, MN6, NAV, Dual Roofs, Polished Forged Wheels, Z51 coupe today.
Love it. Only a few issues:
#1 The Dealer prepped the car and waxed it. Terrible job and I'm sure there will be swirls. As it was raining allday in NJ I can't get a good look yet.
#2 Leather on Steering Wheel is a bit loose on the lefthand sise of wheel near spoke.
#3 After driving about 100 miles in the rain, when I got home and pulled into the garage, I noticed on the driver's side of the rear hatch there is a row of scratches that appears to be under the clear coat. I called and the dealer said they would repair at there cost but it really is noticable.
Should I have them fix it? Or should I live with it and try and not look at it. They are like grooved indentations.
BEFORE you let them do "bodywork/paint repair" go there and view their place. Do they even have a paint shop on premises, or is this sent to an indy shop? Next and last, ask for references by Corvette owners (maybe even some of their customers)? Why trust it to them if the work done was sub-par? I mean, the waxing job you speak of kind of leads me to believe this is NOT the place I'd want them to work on the body---how about you?

Voice of restraint here. Spend some time with the car, check it over carefully over some reasonable time. There may be more that needs addressing. Major repairs will almost certainly have to be done by the dealer. The bad wax job, even with some swirls, you may want to try to address yourself, maybe with the full Zaino first time ordeal with more than one coat of Z5. It might take buffing but you need to evaluate carefully. As to should you just live with it, no way. JMO. Good luck and send us some pics.
From: The Great Pacific Northwest...........I carry a gun cause a cops too heavy.
The good news is black is one of the easier colors to repair but I agree with AOroads that you should have complete confidance in there body shop. Good luck!
I would let them fix it otherwise its going to bother you all the time.
Agree! I had some on my 2004 Commemorative Edition and it constantly bugged the shucks out of me. I should have had the dealer fix it but no, not me Mr. Nice Guy.

Good advice. But, at my dealer, they do lousy detailing and great body/paint work. The detailing work is actually a separate dept from the body shop at my dealer.
congrats on the new car. i have a scratch under the smooth clearcoat as well. it's by the passenger door handle. i decided to leave it alone. the whole fender will have to be painted, or blended, and i figured THAT would probably look worse than the scratch. i'd forgotten all about it until i read your post.
Congrads! Drive it, look at it. Wash it. Then decide whether its worth having the dealer fix it. I picked up mine and it had a small paint chip on the top of the passenger side mirror ( 1-2 mm), decided to leave it be. Difficult to see unless you know its there. No one else notices but me. Not worth them screwing it up worse. Just depends on your tolerances.
