Was thinking about DSOM on my DSOM......

Do you have to take the calipers off the car or can you leave them on? (would be extreme PIA to have to bleed, etc.)
How do you "tape off" the letters?

I didn't take the calipers off my car, because I just used the paint kit. I just taped off the little 'dome' in the calipers, I didn't tape off the letters, you can just paint over them and then use a paint scraper to scrape it off after you are done painting. A tip which they told me was to use chapstick over the letters before painting so that it comes off easier. I just followed the directions on bugman's website :
http://www.bugmanweb.com/c6/c6index.html and then click on calipers on the left menu.

How did you paint the word Corvette in black paint. I'm going to do mine in red and a lot of people on the forum just scrape off any paint that gets on the letters. I hope you don't say you painted it by hand, with my shakey hands it ain't going to work.

Yup, just painted it by hand. Bought a duplicolor touch up paint, and just painted the thing. My suggestion would be to put a cardboard box that you can rest your hand on. It will help to steady out your hand.

I love the look of painted calipers, yellow looks I wish GM had kept the Red like on my 04 CE. I'm thinking of doing mine when I install the headers, it'll be in the air anyway..

I used a paint stick to do the lettering black on mine...... Very easy, took about 20 minutes to do both...

I'm torn urrggghhh Red....or yellow.....all the ones I've seen, Wow, hats off
Rat, you mentioned a caliper kit? Where can I get it? And for those who painted, where did you get the paint since it must match your color code of your car, unless you go with a different color like red on a yellow car or vice versa, then no-one would notice the difference.

I got the kit from Kragen, i believe. But the yellow was the last one in San Diego (at least in Kragen stores). If you type in Duplicolor Caliper Paint Kit on google, you should get it within 1-2 links. They have 5 colors, I believe. Btw, the yellow doesn't really match my coat, its a little darker, not as bright as the VY paint. If you see the car up close, you'll see that it is in fact darker, that along with the brake dust which accumulates on it. But I still like the look of it.

As to the lettering, I just painted the whole thing, scraped off the lettering with a paint scraper and just painted the letters with a black touch up color paint. If you go to bugman's C6 website (type bugman c6 in google), he has directions on how to do it. I mainly followed his how to guide.
