Default Callaway???

I know what a Callaway is but is there a large market for them? A Callaway Rep came by my dealership the other day to talk w/ the owner and the GSM to see if they'd be interested in becoming a Callaway dealer. Looks like we may. The car he brought w/ him for us to look at was awesome! Looked like a plan 07 C6 coupe w/ M6 in silver. The hood was the Callaway hood w/ the super charger badging. And there was numerous Callaway badging around the car too. It wasn't the C16 but it did have 580hp. He said the package that we were looking at was 20k over what Vette you pick out. So 1LT - 4LT got get just add 20k to the sales price and you got a Callaway. It DOES work for both automatic and manual transmissions. If you did buy the Z06 cause you "didn't" want a stick well now you can run circles round they and your roof is still removable or you can get it in a vert too. I got mixed feeling about get 'em. Just curious what you guys thought.

As you are aware Callaway is a very respected name in Corvette aftermarket performance. There will always be a limited market for this in my opinion. The bottom line I suspect will be if there is enough profit potential in it for you over and above the effort required to sell the packages. As I recall, becomming a Calloway dealer will also open you up to selling the Callaway brand of aftermarket exhaust and intake products that are available and combining that with the profit potential for doing the install it may be worth a look.

Callaway is on my short list of premier Corvette tuner shops...one of 5 or 6 in the Country that I hold in high regard. I prefer a built, naturally aspirated engine but in general I like what Callaway does under the hood. Callaway does quality work and has an excellent reputation...you pay for both their quality work and for their reputation. I don't care for Callaway's exterior creations. I believe your dealership would sell some Callaway modified Corvette's...there is a limited market.

Although you can modify C6 to "run circles around" or to outperform a Z06 I would suggest not promoting a Callaway modified C6 as being 'better' than a Z06. Promote the modified C6 for what it is. No amount of modding will ever make a C6 a Z06.

Regarding Callaway Corvettes, they are legendary in nature, and the finest packages available.

For the answers to your questions, I might offer the following – There is a reason that books like the NADA and CPI value guides, amongst others all recognize these as a brand and their proven values/track record over the last 20 years. They can quantify the build as a standard package and with their high-level of detail in the building of each, they remain at the top of any serious Corvette enthusiast’s list of “must haves.”

You probably were already aware, the cars are assembled (as SuperCharged Callaways) in either Southern California, or at the HQ in Old Lyme, Connecticut. There is another facility in Germany as well. If you as a dealer add the supercharger, that would be different than a Callaway Corvette. Also, it would not have the rest of the content that is part of the package aside from the SC itself.

For the Corvette Forum group here, it should be noted that C16s are built to suit, and done between the customer and the Callaway Cars staff. Specifically, Reeves Callaway. These are different than the SuperCharged Callaway Corvettes that are being discussed here.

Make no mistake about it, those cars are FAST! Faster than a Z06, the Callaway can also be ordered with six-piston brakes and a world-class suspension that really makes the car a champ. I have driven more than a few of the new Callaway Corvettes in all different power levels. I have come away amazed with each one!

For more information on Callaway Corvette background, I might suggest you check out www.callawayownersgroup.com

I hope this helps

I commissioned a 2008 3LT based C16 A6 Coupe and it is currently under construction. I traded in my XKR for it. There is a market for the Callaway just like there is a market for Z06 and now the ZR1. I am familiar with the Callaway quality of design, materials, and workmanship also owning a 1991 Callaway Twin Turbo Corvette.

GM has invested millions in R&D and it is the best buy for the money. Callaway enhances that R&D bringing high end power beyond the Manual cars as you stated to the Automatic and Convertibles that are not available on either the Z06 or the ZR1. The C16 and the some of the options bring high end refinement to the wonderful base platform of Corvette that is only available on the best of the European cars and with a warranty to match.

To a GM dealer who also becomes a Callaway dealer it brings differentiation and I would think pull though business on parts and cars. How better to take back high end customers who have gone to the other side of the pond.

I have often thought...and still do, about taking the Callaway plung - no doubt, as tuners go, ranked among the best! Must say, I've never know a Chev dealer to partner with Callaway, but that's not to say it couldn't be a very sucessful marriage, depending on the area. I'd be interested to see how this develops.

I purchased an 07-Callaway SC 560 from a qualified Chevrolet dealer(Bill Stasek). This is an incredible car. Where can you get the same warranty as the manufacturer on the upfitted products. Also, I have purchased additional Callaway products through the dealer. I am also in the auto business and would recommend Callaway to anyone!!

The quality of their work is fantastic. And Reves and Perter are great guys to deal with. They both come to Cars and Coffee in Irvine every Saturday. A few weeks ago Peter handed me the keys to his SC LS2 Corvette and let me take it for a spin with my son. That was one FAST car.
