Default C6 vs Ford GT

While cruisin' on I-4 between Tampa and Orlando I spotted a Ford GT. It looked great from a distance.

Then I noticed the right rear fender.

This is the best view!!

The father of a good friend of mine that I went all the way through HS just picked up a GT over the summer. It looks beautiful in the driveway but I just don't no if I could bring myself to buy one. I know that its a supercar and not meant to be a DD but, It gets awful gas milege and has a small tank, no rearward visibility and unispired steering.(**My Opinion**) I know if I was going to spend a couple hundred grand on a mid-engine supercar I would be looking at a
1st CGT
2nd Enzo
3rd LP640

Plus after seeing numerous video's of very slighty modded C6Z's pulling on Ford GT's my opinions of them have gotten even worse. Again though, its all my opinion and I'm sure there are people out there that would disagree with me 110%

I don't think you could buy any of your choices for "a couple hundred grand" unless your idea of a couple is different than mine,or you might mean a wrecked one like the GT.

I'm sorry, I should have been a lot more clear. But it is my impression that if you can afford a 200k ford GT, a 320k LP or 350-400k CGT shouldn't be to much of a strech. I will admit though that an Enzo would be a considerable amount more.

i respect your opinion, but i have a few comments.

i have a lot of first hand knowledge on the FGT.

first of all, the ford gt is about half the price of the cheapest of the other cars you posted.

second, they get great gas mileage...considering its a 500+hp supercar. you can get up to 26 mpg on the highway. thats better than the other cars you mentioned.

rear visability...well, you mentioned all mid-engine cars...they will all suck equally. not a reason you buy a supercar.

ive never driven the car myself, so i will not comment on the steering.

the FGT can hang with or beat the LP460/CGT and pocket change in mods will smoke an enzo....the same way a modded C6Z beats a stock GT.

last bud not least. the FGT is gaining value everyday. i really doubt the LP460 and CGT will hold thier value and the enzo has a chance at holding like the F40 and F50 did.

really, the only cars you can compare it to in the price range is the F430 and the Gallardo. Performance wise, the FGT wins...but the F430 is just of so sexy...

tell him to join the club at fordgtforum.com they are a bunch of cool guys!

I completely respect your opinion. You make some great points. The FGT won Ecoty in 06 so it has to be doing something right. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't turn it down if it was given to me but it's pretty low on my list of supercar dreams

Erm... I'm pretty sure this does
Supercharged V8 sitting right over the rear tires, not up front where it doesn't do anything for traction,
Better brakes, better handling, higher top speed, faster 0-60, faster 1/4 mile.

It just costs a lot more, which is why I drive a 'vette. If you could pick one up for the price of a C6, I suspect many of us would switch over

I love the Ford GT. There are many sports cars I would love to own. If I never buy another sports car and have my C6 for the rest of my life, I would be very very happy. If I hit the lottery tommorrow, I would buy an Exotic. I am not sure which one, I would have to test drive them all. I would still keep my vette though.

I love anything that's very fast and can handle. No real brand loyalty here; if Daewoo could make something faster than a Corvette, for less money that could stop and handle equally well, I'd drive it.

I'm guessing he (the GT) slid and hit a guardrail. What are your guesses?

I'll add the fact that Ford GTs handle and steer just fine, better than most... I can vouch for that with first hand experience.

Not too mention the 200+mph (stock) top speed, 3.5 second 0-60 trips, 11.6 quarter-miles, Brembo brakes, great seats, awesome potential for power upgrades...
