How much clearance is there under the front air dam (if that's what the low thing below the bumper is called)? My car is being built this week and I'm checking the driveway apron where it meets the road to eliminate a surprise when I bring it home. Thanks in advance.
Don't worry, mine scrapes every time in and out and I see nothing wrong with it yet (2+ years). If it gets raggedy the replacement parts are cheap and easy to install...
Thanks! At 2" and a shallow angle it should be okay, even with the overhang before the tire makes contact.
If it doesn't rub there(it probably will) it will rub somewhere. I don't have a very steep driveway and it rubs sometimes pulling out and sometmes backing in. It rubs leaving the alley and it rubs through soe intersections. The main thing is you will just have to get used to it rubbing.
I scrape mine everytime I pull out of my driveway,,its very annoying but I've been putting up with the problem for many yrs as my last 4 cars were all firebirds and they did it to.

I occasionally hear mine scrape but it is designed to do that. But you piqued my interest so I just measured mine. Factory height adjustment and a hair less than 3.5 inches. The center section which is softer is smooth with no scrape gouges while the outside sections are both a little rough on the bottom but you can't see the scrapes. That is with over 13K miles.
I have 2-5/8" from the bottom of the plastic air dam to the pavement. Even the owner's manual states they are designed to scrape the pavement on occasion. If you're in doubt approaching an incline, go slow and hit it at an angle. It doesn't take long to get where you can judge these things pretty well.
My **** opinion on this whole matter is whatever the depth, I find that Forever Black auto dye does a wonderful job of keeping them looking like new and also hides those scrape gouges.
