Wow. I must be older than I thought. I had a pair of glass packs on my 64 SS Impala (327, 4-speed, convertible, chick magnet). They sounded awesome. I didn't realize they were still around.
I'll add one more post to this thread. Speaking of my beloved 64SS, it had a Vibrasonic radio in it. I don't know if you've ever heard of it, but it was a pretty simple device. There was a metal box in the trunk that contained nothing but springs running from one side to the other. There was a toggle switch on the dash. When you flipped it, the sound went through this box and ran back to the speakers. It gave it an echo effect. It was a little too much for Ricky Nelson tunes (already containing too much reverb) but it sounded pretty cool in those days.
I talked to one of the cherry bomb reps and for the corvette he recommended their Cherry Bomb PRO muffler and not the Cherry Bomb EXTREME...he said the Extreme would be too loud for everyday driving as they are race mufflers, and that the PRO's would give a more mellow and deep tone. I asked him about drone and he said these were designed to reduce interior drone...I ended up going with PowerPacks instead, I guess I'll have to wait and see how they sound...
