I noticed the speedo indicates while moving in reverse (both analog and HUD). What's the fastest you've gone in reverse. Spins don't count either! Back in High school we used to race in reverse (1/4 mi.) We went about 45-50 or so. Kinda hard to steer straight! Good fun though!

Kinda reminds me when my Monte Carlo tranny broke down one night and all I could do was drive in reverse! This was on a 4 lane road in a fairly congested shopping district area at around 11:00 pm. I drove in reverse on that street for a good 2 miles before coming into (in reverse) to a car dealers parking lot and leaving it there. The looks on the faces of those other drivers as I went backwards is something I'll never forgot and still gives me a good laugh!

Ha! I used to drive in reverse in my friend's neighborhood and I agree the looks are priceless. Never tried for top speed though. I bet if you knew the gear ratio you could figure out the redline for it.

I thought I had done everything that fell into the stupid category.....especially in the 70's as a teenager behind the wheel of a car. I guess racing in reverse will be something that never makes my list. Bad idea. Don't try it.

I did the same thing years ago...the transmission in a Jeep I owned stuck in reverse so I drove it about 5 or 6 miles home in reverse all the way. Getting back onto the paved road wasn't difficult but driving backwards in traffic (at night) was a challenge.
I wasn't trying for top speed...we were just thankful we made it home.
I knew there would be some storys when I posted this! It is however, a good thing not to be scared of reverse. Gotta watch the steering caster as it causes instability "at speed!"

I forgot the original question! You got me beat at 50 mph while reverse drag racing. My personal best was around 37mph done at a high school party making "solo" runs down the street. The winner hit over 40mph. As for the C6, have only gone foward so far in the 1/4 mile.
